Paihia to Auckland

Walked around Paihai and then slowly drove back to Auckland stopping at some amazing glow worm caves; Ruapekapeka Pa (the last battle ground); Whangarei (Fangaray) falls- 26metre waterfall and a bird rescue sanctuary. At the sanctuary we saw a talking Tui which mimics the other birds around it as well as the owner and whistles "half a pound of tupenny rice". We were also really lucky as we got to stroke a 5 day old Kiwi- I haven't met another person who has touched a Kiwi let alone a baby. If you visit www.whangereinativebirdrecovery.org.nz you can see the Tui talking and a web cam of the Kiwi.
In Auckland Tavis and I said goodbye to Ester and when to stay at Rebeccah's.
