Dudes at Duder
First pic of Liam and Danny :-) Well our first fully fledged UK visitors are here! My friends Liam and Danny from Swindon, who got married in June this year, decided to choose New Zealand for their honeymoon and landed in Auckland on Saturday afternoon. We whisked them away to One Tree Hill for a view across the city but the cold breeze and lack of warm clothing meant we didn't linger too long. Still, we wanted to introduce our friends to the sights of our home city before taking them home to Takanini.
It's been almost 3 years since Glynn and I came to New Zealand and since we last saw Liam & Danny. Funny how time barely seems to have passed when you catch up with old friends! Saturday night saw us attending an excellent quiz night with our sci-fi group.
On Sunday, we had a brunch date with our surrogate family Liz, Allard and Nicola in a favourite local eatery called The Pizza Box. Contrary to the name, the venue serves awesome breakfasts and it was a fab way to start the day. Back home it was time for our friends to plan the rest of their 3 week stay before we headed
Sheep!
These bleaters were everywhere and left behind plenty of evidence! out to enjoy the sunshine at Duder Regional Park.
It's been over a year since we were last there and I forgot just how lovely the views are from the hilltops overlooking the Thames region and distant mountains of the Coromandel. Sheep surrounded us everywhere we went and we found ourselves playing a serious game of dodge the poo! One of the young lambs we saw was too lazy to stand up and run away from from us. Instead, he shuffled along on his front knees in a slow-motion attempt at escape. It was hilarious!
Tomorrow we are off on a 3 day trip to Rotorua. Hope the sunshine follows us down there!
