Jaj 😉
Ach ty ceny! Uzas! Ooh, the prices, amazing!
Vezmeme-li v potaz levnejsi fiji dolar.
A teď spát, dnes a zbytek výletu (mimo jednu noc v home stay) v hostelu a výletů plno před námi. Dobrou noc.
My babies,
I want to keep you informed even without Google translator and with all of my English mistakes so today's blog is 'duolingo' (duolingo is a great way for languages learning by the
Supermarket
Jak mi prozradili couchsurferi - v Nadi neni co delat, tak prozkoumavaji a porovnavaji v supermarketech a na trzich nejlevnejsi ceny ;) way..even though pimsleur is better... And being with locals is even better... And being in the country and talking to locals is the best... Okay let's stop my divergent mind and get back to where I've stopped😉, Czech and English. So now I'm living in Fiji ~ for one week. Today I spent here the whole day so I can tell you how's life here, in Nadi and I'll add some practical information if you plan to come here😉
So let's crack it. First of all, it's a mess! Especially if you're coming from Australia where everything's perfect. I'd you're coming from India, though, this country might seem clean and cozy. For those who don't know me that long, vow been to India in 2012 so I'll be comparing a lot 😊 Honestly, 40% of Indians of Fiji population 'helps'. Littering on the ground is normal in some way. Not as normal as in India but you wouldn't get fine for doing so here.
People stare at you. Or me. There's not so many tourists, especially in non-touristic areas such as hotel resorts and holiday destinations (which Nadi in spite of its international airport certainly isn't). So being white here
is a reason to be starred to. And to expect that you're super rich and want to buy all their useless stuff.
Negotiation is a must. Not in supermarkets where the prices are fixed but at the local markets. Otherwise they will take advantage of you! I got roti (Indian bread sort of like a pancake here) with tuna for 50c instead of $1. And earrings for $10 instead of $25. Bananas were cheap already: $1.
One practical advice: if you are coming from Australia and you wanted to buy cookies and biscuits there to have enough food and save during your travels, don't do so! Everything (except for milk and some few stuff) is much cheaper here. Rather buy plenty of stuff here and bring it to Aussie! (My plan😉)
Water, as I was told by my CouchSurfing hosts, should be boiled before use. It's a bit annoying but better than India: without a special filter (using UV light I guess) you cannot drink it (in India). Even brushing your teeth with tap water causes diarrhea (in India too=)).
Recycling isn't exactly cool here. Brace yourself, environmentalists.
Nadi, except for the markets, colourful Hindi temple and people~sort of a
Levna zmrzlina! Cheap ice-cream :)
tahle byla nejlevnejsi, jinak jsou i 4x drazsi cultural shock which is annoying but actually a part if the experience, is a dead place. Only airport, that's it. Rather go outside.
Time zone GMT +13, difference between the Czech Republic and here is 12 hours, from Brisbane 3 hours.
Money exchange is the best here in Fiji in Western Union. Not hotels, not airport, please.
From now I'll be staying in hostels. More Fiji trips are awaited-so keep following.me 😊 Good night😊
