Hello everyone,

After a short flight from Tahiti we arrived on the main island of Rarotonga in the Cook Islands. For our first 2 nights we stayed in our own beachouse which was brilliant - only about 20 ft from the lagoon with a hammock, verandah and lots of pet lizards!! The Cooks were governed by New Zealand and so we met a lot of Kiwis who were really friendly and gave us loads of travel advice about NZ. We have even got some people's addresses including a big, sweaty glamour photographer - not sure whether that was directed to me or Rich!!

On our second night here, we went to an island night which included a traditional feast and island dancing. We both sank in our chairs and tried to hide as they rounded up a few unwilling volunteers to get up on stage and dance. Much to Rich's delight, I was dragged up on stage and had to dance with a rather sweaty half-naked man - it's a tough job but somebody had to do it.

We went to Aitutaki for 4 nights which has one of the most beautiful lagoons in the South Pacific. We

Rich thinks Beanman looks exactly like Adam, Kerry's brother - it could be his twin!!
stayed in a little hut right on the beach and spent most of our time sunbathing, snorkelling and reading. We went on a glass bottom boat trip and saw turtles, rays and lots of fish as well as some beautiful little islands within the lagoon. Only 1000 people live here and so they do not have any buses etc so we hired a moped for the day to have a look about. My knuckles were white as Rich raced around the island dodging chickens and giant potholes!!

We went back to Rarotonga for 3 nights and the weather was not quite as good. One day we decided to go for a walk up the nearest hill which sounded quite nice. It was quite a trek with a narrow path at one point that had really sheer drops either side and it was blowing a gale. When we got to the top there as a 15m rock climb but the wind and rain put us off and we wimped out as we already defied serious injury on the ridge!! We were really sad to leave the Cook Islands as we loved it here but now we are in Fiji and

Embarrassing? - not at all. I love dancing like an idiot on a stage, its just like being down the Trek!
having a wonderful time - that is another story involving sharks, Celebrity Island, sinkers and floaters!!!
