Port Douglas to Airlie Beach

Left PD for the long drive to Airlie Beach some 700k's so wasn't sure would do it in 1 day .I really wanted to as I mentioned earlier met chap at the wedding a Peter Farrell who said he could arrange a couple of dives so was keen to get there. was going great guns well on time but as always there is something lurking in the background to upset the plan .
5k,s outside Carwell a one hick town 200 metres and you are though it in 2mins some 350 k into the trip on a deserted road at least 5k's long dead straight got clocked in a radar trap!!!!! Just as in Tenerife have to get thier quoter before Christmas .clocked at 155k speed limit 100K .As a result of the speed got arrested had to go to station fill in a load of forms fork out $700 Aus !!! then let me go I went right off Queensland.

Finally got to Airlie Beach at 18-00 still peed off about the fine .

However got in touch with Peter and arranged 2 dives today.The GBR is some 60k's from A. B. so as always with diving an early start 8-00am left A.B. for Knuckle reef one of the 2900 reefs that make up the GBR.
Had a wonderful couple of dives and saw a lot more than in Port Douglas.

The hightlight was seeing a Mauri Wrasse named Whally who likes his photo taken and being stroked.He must have been at least 1 and half metres long and half a metre deep quite harmless, also many giant clams half a metre in length.
sorry still haven't mastered putting pics on please be patient .Now tired and about to be thrown out of Internet shop as he is closing.

watch this space moving on south again tomorrow at a much more sedate pace
