More repairs needed - broken shock absorber Broome - Cape Keraudren Two nights in Broome was enough - enough to get the parts (bits) we needed to fix the camper, enough to fit the new parts, enough to do a bit of laundry and top up supplies and enough of a city for me to want to leave asap. It is very busy here as it's still their 'peak' season - the first two caravan parks we went to were full - and the one we were in was pretty crowded too. When we arrived we set up camp then went out looking for the parts we needed to fix things - bolts for the suspension, a shock absorber, and some higher grade lead to rewire the fridge power, and we arranged to have the battery tested the next morning. We then went to the markets, which just happened to be on that night.
The (high tensile) bolts we bought were not quite big enough so were returned the next morning. The bigger bolts had to be ordered in and we arranged to pick them up at Port Hedland on Monday morning. We picked up the shock absorbers and had the battery tested then Kevin spent

Cable Beach, Broome the next couple of hours installing the shocky's and rewiring the power for the fridge.
The good news is that the DC:DC battery charger is now working and once the rewiring was completed we moved the fridge back into the camper. The only other thing we did in Broome was Cable Beach (because you have to get a sunset shot at Cable Beach).
We had planned to go to Cape Levique next, but we didn't want to put more stress on the suspension (the scrounged bolt is not the correct diameter - good enough to make do, but not a good idea to put it under too much pressure) until we have the new bolts. Instead of Cape Levique, we decided to go to Cape Keraudren for a couple of days R&R (and to get away from the crowds). It's on our way to Port Hedland and there's limited dirt road, only about 20km.
Cape Keraudren is a Nature Reserve run by the shire, which has a couple of campground areas. There were more campers than I had expected, but it was much better than a caravan park. We had a spot near the water and there

Cable Beach, Broome - traffic were a few fishing spots for Kevin to try his luck. The scenery was stunning - the only problem we had was with the sandflies/midges - there were billions of them. I guess you can't have everything eh... The water was beautiful and blue and we were amazed at how far the tide goes out. When the tide is out you can explore the rock pools. Kevin caught quite a lot of fish in mosquito creek. They were all little things, which didn't really matter because he releases them anyway - but he had fun catching them anyway. The location and setting at Cape Keraudren was ideal, but I will always think of it as Cape Midge - we are both covered in bites.

Man that water is blue and the sky is almost as blue. So jealous!
