Gregory's Tree Gregory National Park - - Kununurra On the way from Gregory National Park to Kununurra we stopped at Gregory's tree, Keep National Park and the WA Border quarantine check-point and Lake Argyle.
Gregory's tree is a boab carved with the dates of the expedition camp used by Augustus Gregory in 1855-1856. We had a quick trip into Keep National Park to look at the lagoon. At the check-point I had to hand over my honey, potatoes and onions (as expected). But we gained an hour and a half crossing the border 😊 We have been to Lake Argyle in a previous trip, when we stayed at the caravan park and did the sunset tour and explored the area. So this time we just had a quick drive into the lake for a fresh look-see, then continued on to Kununurra.
Arriving at Kununurra we stayed at Kimberleyland Waterfront Caravan park - I chose this park so we could be on the water (giving Kevin another fishing opportunity). It also provided a beautiful view over the lagoon.

Savannah Way (Victoria Highway) of the time difference we woke early the next morning, which worked out well because we wanted to head off early to do some walks at El Questro (on Gibb River Road) before the heat set in. We arrived at Emma Gorge at 7am (about 75minute drive from Kununurra) to start the 3.2km walk. The path was very rocky, with some scrambling over rocks, but the view was special, with a pool at the end.
After Emma Gorge we headed to Zebedee Springs - this is a short walk to thermal pools. When we arrived there were heaps of people there. The little pockets of pools were very nice but it was disappointing to see so many people. We spent about half an hour in the pool then went to check out Jackaroo Waterhole. The waterhole was being used as a fishing spot when we arrived so Kevin go the gear out to give it a go. Unfortunately he didn't get anything using the spinners and he didn't have any bait, so we had some lunch and headed back towards Kununurra stopping at Molly's Spring on the way for a cooling dip. This was an awesome little pool that

Keep National Park wasn't crowded (when we got there) and we had a nice swim and cooled down.
Day 2 in Kununurra - I planned an early start again but realised early in the morning that the fridge was not kicking in again... more power issues. We have been advised, by some fellow travellers, that the car alternator doesn't charge auxiliary batteries as we had expected. So instead of heading out early for more exploring, we arranged to move to a powered site (to plug the fridge into AC) then went shopping for a DC:DC charger and got some advice from the local auto-electrician. The rest of the morning was spent installing the charger. After lunch we headed off to Wyndham - to see the Five Rivers Lookout and the Marlgu Billabong Bird hide at Parry Creek. Returning to town just on sunset to see Ivanhoe crossing.
We head of early tomorrow morning to the Bungle Bungles - somewhere I've always wanted to go... Fingers crossed that the new battery charger works as expected - otherwise we are going to have more spoiled food and hot drinks.
