Our hostel is located right in the centre of the Tingle and Karri forests, and the area is popular with walkers and those who wish to spend some time enjoying nature and tranquillity. Started off the day with some fresh air and exercise by doing a scenic walk around the Knoll. Spotted two green parrots which flew over us & saw lots more pelicans on the beach.

Then we drove to see a Giant Tingle tree set in the heart of the forest, down a gravel track. Next we visited Mandalay beach to see the elusive shipwreck! Apparently it is possible to view the shipwreck from the beach every 10 years - no luck today! A wild natural beach with crashing waves, quite isolated - just a few fishermen.

Back to the Knoll in the evening to try and find some more wild parrots to take some photos, but typically they were all hiding. However we did come across a young suicidal kangaroo that gave us the pleasure of her company as we were driving down the track! Kangaroo road accidents are quite common over the West coast, particularly at dusk and dawn. Sadly skeletons can often been observed
