Perth, Western Australia
H all, arrived Perth, Sunday afternoon, thanks Graham for waking us with the Worcester result (2 am). Just hit 38 degrees as we landed, driver said it had cooled down because the wind was blowing in from Fremantle. We are her until Friday, last night we had a quick recce close to the hotel and acclimatised ourselves a little more with the heat.
We bought breakfast to do in the apartment, not bad accommodation, 2 bedroom self contained, (Lins washing as I write).
Today we walked into Perth centre (about 1 mile) and caught a train from Perth Central to Fremantle (about 40 minutes). Spent time wandering and looking at all the old architecture. Spen the hottest part of the day in the Maritime museum.
We then came back on the boat up the Swan river, about an hour with wine tasting (hic) included.
Walked back out of the city to the hotel.
Tomorrow we have a whole day booked on a river cruise up the Swan river to the vineyards.
Just as an aside, within an hour of booking into the hotel, I had a phone call from a cousin
who lives in Perth, who remembers me (in my youth), their mother had emigrated to Pert in the 1920's. Anyway we are meeting up on Wednesday (watch this space)
