Middle Laggon
Bush camp in the tent Well it is time for another exciting update in the Barrett family travels. Our last blog saw us packing the car with our tent and heading up to Cape Leveque to camp on the beach. The road up was pretty rough and left Jack feeling a bit car sick. Were however rewarded in our efforts when we arrived at Middle Lagoon. The water and beach was pristine. The kids absolutely loved the expansive shallow waters. Paul threw in a couple of lines but still no joy. We didn't , however , enjoy sleeping in the tent much. Finn thought of it as a night on a trampoline and we were up with the sun. Kooljamon at Cape Leveque was also stunning. We camped on the beach with our tent under a beach shelter. The fly and mosi population of Australia joined us there too but it was worth it.. We headed back to Broome after 3 nights in our tent and were so glad to get back into our camper. The following day we were treated to the company of our beautiful friends the Frosts. It was so great to see some familiar faces. We had lunch at Matso's Brewery and

Jack loved Middle Laggon Beach browsed the shops for a while. Yvette and I had a lot to catchup on and it is amazing how much you can say in a couple of hours if you dont breathe. After a big food stockup we headed north to journey the Gibb River Road. We hadnt planned to drive the full road but found the condition of the road to be pretty good, so decided to tackle the whole distance. The next 10 days lead us on a great adventure where we met loads of interesting people and heard as many tales of whoa about car and camper damage. Fortunately for us we finished the journey without any incident. We walked (and sometimes dragged) ourselves through Windjana, Bell,Galvin and Manning Gorges. Manning Gorge was our favourite climb although Jack found it a bit long. We were well rewarded the a very refreshing swim at the falls. Paul decided it would be a good idea to jump off the rocks after watching some others do the same. I think it was a lot higher than he anticipated. We enjoyed a couple of days break at Home Valley Station and camped on the playground. The kids had a ball.
From there we headed into El Questro. We decided to take a boat cruise on The Chamberlain River. The scenery was spectacular. The boys were able to drive the boat which Captain Jack was a particular hit. The other passengers all commented on how well he steered and cheered him on. He also took over the microphone from the tour guide and told everyone about dangerous crocodiles. Paul and I meanwhile sat back and enjoyed several glasses of champagne while the sunset behind the gorge. The next day we enjoyed a swim in the thermal Zebedee Springs. We then took a drive up the the steep 4 wheel drive track to Saddleback Ridge. It was a great vantage point to see a large amount of the park. Paul felt a great relief after finishing the Gibb. As he pumped the tyres up he said he was so glad we decided to drive the whole road but was glad to be back on sealed road. We have now washed everything in sight after arriving in Kununurra. We plan to stay here for another day and then head down to Lake Argyle. Until our next update , we hope you are all
