Yummy mudcrabs
Cape Keraudren The last 2 weeks have seen us complete our journey on The Warlu Way. Since the last blog we have journeyed from Port Hedland to beautiful Broome. After satisfying Jacks request of waiting for and viewing another incredibly long train we headed out to the beautiful coastline the runs from P. H to Broome. Our first few nights we spent in the bush at Cape Keraudren. We feasted on freshly caught mudcrabs and fish, thanks to the advice of some fellow travellers and Pauls tramping through the deep mud between the mangroves. Cape K is the beginning of 80 mile beach. We headed from here to The caravan park at 80 mile . The beach looked so inviting but we were advised not to swim due to the Bull sharks in the water ! No luck at fishing here either. The beach is covered with loads of fabulous shells. The permanent residents there are up early collecting every day. The boys were lucky to befriend the ranger who took them for lots of rides on his ATV as he did his rounds during the day and also along the beach. We stayed at Barn Hill Station for the next 3 nights.

Barn Hill Station The water was incredibly warm and thankfully no sharks or stingers. Unfortunately no fish caught. Lucky for us though we were given a feed by some other travellers (who had a boat). We rolled into Broome on the 27th and feel quite at home already. The town of course is focussed on tourism but still has a very relaxed feel. We went for a camel ride along Cable Beach. Jack chose the front camel, as he wanted to lead the train. His camel was called Horris. Finn and Paul rode on Thomas who was apparently a star in the movie Australia. We then settled in for the arvo to watch the sunset with a family we have met from Mt Eliza. It was so beautiful. We wandered around The Court house markets and indulged in some delicious mango icecream and then headed down to look at the Pearl Luggers on display on Dampier Tce. Of course , mandatory pearl viewing but with no purchases (yet). The stairway to The Moon was viseable last night so we sat on the grass out the front of our camp and ate dinner waiting for the moon to rise. It became quite dark so
Port Headland
Jack and Finn watching a very long iron ore train we pinned a glow stick to Finns teeshirt so we wouldn't loose him. The atmosphere was lovely with a band at the nearby cafe and lots of people out waiting to see the moon rise. It was a bit cloudy so not a perfect moon reflection on the water but beautiful anyway. Maybe tonight it will be better. We are driving up to Cape Leveque tomorrow for 3 nights camping on the beach. We are leaving the trailer in Broome , so the boys are excited to be staying in the tent. Must go, things to do (pearls to buy!) Thanks to all those you have sent messages. love Nic, PB , Jack and Finn.
