Best buddies
With our clean car (not for long) we left Kununurra and headed toward the boarder . Our last stop before crossing into the NT was a night at Lake Argyle. Wow, what a massive expanse of water. We drove over the Ord River Dam wall and had a picnic across from the pump station. The afternoon was spent in the amazing and terribly cold infinity pool looking out over the Lake. As we entered the Northern Territory PB and I were excited to see where the next part of our adventure would take us. The first night in the NT we camped in The Keep River National Park (goodbye clean car). The limestone formations are similar to the Bungles (but a lot easier to access!) We got a fantastic view of the park on our late afternoon walk around the escarpment. We moved onto The Gregory NP the next day and camped by The Victoria River. Paul was thrilled to catch his first Barramundi off the banks. He came walking through the bush carrying his prize and was greeted by many fellow campers waiting to check it out. PB tried to further his luck during the next few days (as did

neighbouring campers) with no joy. Katherine was our next stop and we ended up staying for a few days. The kids loved exploring the town. Jack was particularly interested in the display at the museum of the last major floods. Of course we also had to visit the train station to see The Ghan arriving. One of the stewards gave the boys a bag each which they have been carrying around with them. We spent a lazy morning sitting in the Katherine Hotsprings. The following morning we did the Baruwei walk at Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge). From here we had a great view of the first gorge and 17 mile valley. From Katherine town we took a short drive to the next camp at Edith Falls. The lower pool provided us with a great spot to cool off in the afternoon, even with the fresh water crocs. The walk to the upper pools for a picnic lunch the following morning was probably the most enjoyable climb that we have had. We walked with another family whose 5 year old daughter and Jack battled for leadership on the trail. Hence it was a quick climb with no complaints of “are we nearly

there”. The waterfall and pools at the top were beautiful and we all enjoyed a leisurely swim. We spent a couple of nights camping at The Douglas Hotsprings, enjoying the crystal clear warm (and sometimes hot) water. We have recently read that a 3 metre salt water croc had been captured there only days earlier and that the park should have been closed to swimming! We certainly are in croc country now. I read recently that there are estimated over 100000 crocodiles in the NT. We are heading toward Darwin now and hope you have enjoyed sharing in our adventures via the blog. We have all been keeping well and have avoided injury apart from Finn sticking 3 coco pops in his nose and Jack getting a tick stuck to him. We are enjoying the tropical heat and hope all of you at home are surviving the cold winter. Until our next blog, keep safe. Love Nicki, Paul, Jack and Finn.

How R YA???
Hi Nicki, It was so awesome to hear from you today!!!!!! Thanks for calling. Can't believe how much fun you guys are having. The photo's are so amazing - You all look like stars from a movie! I especially luv the bathtime one, very Anne Geddes. And yes I agree with you that Finn has grown up so much. Think this experience is going to be invaluable to your boys and they are going to have the best memories. Paul and you both look really well, relaxed and happy. Bet you can't wait wait to experience more adventures. I'm in my P.J.'s right now so won't be taking a photo of my ever growing belly just yet, but it is getting quite big! Spoke to M.J. last night and she is doing really well. They are working hard at the moment cause the plan is to be back in Perth ( to live ) by the end of next year! This was great news because I could tell that she is desparate to get back. Her sister is getting married in September and she won't be able to be back this year for the wedding. She sends her luv to all and was excited to hear about your travels. Can't believe I heard from you and her on the same day - how awesome was that!!! Have been seeing Yvette alot lately as she has inspired me and my cooking with the Thermomix. Poor luv gets a regular call from me every few days to check on a recipe or cooking technique. Her house seems to be just getting back to normal after the storm damage repairs, thank goodness. Haven't caught up with Lou or Loretta these holidays. Lou is busy with her sister who is visiting for most of the first week and Loretta must be recovering from a busy school term. I will call her tomorrow to touch base. Jo is loving her thermomix as well, bumped into Jase at a coffee shop in Leederville recently. It was about 10pm on a Saturday night and he rocked up to the Greens coffee shop to top up on a coffee, he was on night shift and had the Ambulance parked out the front! Was so funny to see him in uniform!! Anyway must go and get some sleep. It's about 1am and I am wide awake, which is what has been happening lately - baby preparing me for night feeds I'm sure. Great to hear from you and Look forward to the next Travel Blog. Please be careful swimming, was a bit nervous reading about the croc infested waters. Take care and big hugs to you and the boys, Annette xxxxxx
