Super Pit
AKA. Super Duper Pit HIYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Boys & Girls over the last couple of days I went to a place called Kalgoorlie. It is A wee town in western australia. In 1893 a wee Irish man named Paddy found a big bit of gold there and then all these other people wanted to come too. It is far out man! There is this big hole there that is called the 'Super Pit' I would of called it the 'Super Duper Pit' because it was super duper. You should see the size of it, its bigger than the biggest thing ever, well apparently not, there is a bigger pit in south America. I had a really good time in Kalgoorlie. It was nice. All the best. Brian...
Thanks for that Brian!
It's true we went to a super Pit. The drive up was unreal...just bush land of nothingness...no, not nothingness...wheatfields, trees, evidence of big bushfires and everynow and then a wee town would pop up and sometiems if you blink ye'd have missed it! We had a gaig! Brian's dad had lived out in one of the wee towns so it was mental to think of him exsisting in such a tiny town
in the middle of nowhere.
We had a gaig driving up...loads of people had said it's gonna be boring...but I thought it was pretty amazing...we counted 2 dead kangaroos...Road Kills and not one living one!
Brian's cousin Sue lives in Kalgoorlie, her husband Geoff works in the pit. Sue and Geof and her kids Sarah Grace and Emma are just lovely!!! They were so hospitable and we loved hanging out with them. Sarah is Grace's age and Emma is a few months younger than Ruthie...so as you might guess I was in my element getting to play with them! Me and May were just wrapped up in wee Emma!
Our first night we just called to Sue's adn had a BBQ...which was tasty!
Our big day out started with a trip to the Liquor Store! We had gone through our beer supply quicker than intended the night before! Next on the list, once we met up wiht our tour guide Sarah, adn her assistant Sue was the Park to see the Emu's...crazy birds!!!! Big Crazy birds!!!!
Brian was taking a picture of me with them and they started making this undescribable noise, we can't describe it but it
scared the living bejeesus out of me and I practically jumped out of my skin!
The park ws fun! We seen Galah's again too.
Then it was time for SUPER PIT! Dudes you would not belive how vast this Goldmine is! The whole town has just sprung up from nothing cause a few people found Gold in them there hills...it would blow you away how quickly they developed into a town and jsut how much Gold adn precious metal has been found!!!! It's just MASSIVE!
WITH BIG BIG DIGGERS!
We were meant to go on a Whore Tour, which May was very eager to see, (go figure?!), but they had proper brothels back in the day and now they have tours of the old brothels...God love the women in Kalgoorlie, back then. Dirty ole Paddy Hannan had the bar maids working naked!!! But things take time to change in Kal so today we find the only thing left are the Skimpy bars!!!! Skimpy bars means they open d' all hours and the barmaids wear next to nathing!
But with Kalgoorlie beign the hiving place of activity that it is we didn't have time for the whore tour!
Super Pit
Spot The Little People. Damn....we'll have to go back now!
J Edgar Hoover...yes he was there for a long time back a good few decades ago...he got off with some barmaid (must have looked fit naked?!) and then sent her a big mirror (which is still up in the bar) just before he became president...sent her a poem about how he will always think of her...tramp...if he loved her that much he coulda made her first lady! Obviously the lady bit was the missing link!
So teh last few things that we coudl sqeeze into our outback experience was the museum and another gorgeous dinner at Sue adn Geoff's! Go Geoff...the man can cook!!!! Brian liked the museum! There was a miners house that was lifted and donated to the museum, the wee woman lived in it till '95. That was very impressive! Brian was kind of ignoring the signs "Please do not Touch", "Please do not sit on the furniture" and instead made himself at home! lol
I got pretty drunk that night! The wine was flowign and the craic was 90!
Anyway thats all from our Kalgoorlie, goldmine, outback, bush experience! WE LOVED IT!
Big thanks to May and
Inside Scoop
Lou Bri & Sarah Derek who totally took us there and looked after everything!!!!! We are so impressed and grateful to have expereicned it all!!!!
Kal rocks! Off to Melbourne on Monday night! Yeeehaaaa....
