Turquoise Bay
Tell me that's not amazing Alright I promise this will be the last edition of the Spring Break road trip…sorry Easter break. I believe we were on the boat and chasing after the whale sharks last I left off. Our group of friends, there was nine of us I think were part of Group 2, so we watched as Group 1 got geared up and waited on the back of the boat. They jumped in and we took off to move ahead of the shark, unfortunately just as we jumped in he or she started to swim down so we only got a brief glimpse but it was still enough to get the excitement going again. It was huge and the next time we would be real close and everyone was talking and excited…I believe the word is giddy. Unfortunately the crew hadn’t heard of another sighting yet so we had to wait around, but as we waited a baby shark was spotted. He was right at the back of the boat and our cameraman decided this was to good a chance to pass up so he decided to jump in to get some footage. Just before he jumped in pieces of food started to drift

Flip and I chilling at the Tropic of Capricorn, we're bad ass. by…no one else had been paying attention but I had seen one of the girls (who will remain nameless…you’re welcome Ash) lose her lunch over the other side of the boat. As it turns out that was what was keeping the baby shark around, he was getting fed. But that’s not even the gross part…our cameraman, with full knowledge now of what those floating pieces were, decided to take one for the team (I’m not quite sure what team) and jumped in to get some video of the little tyke. And everyone I know you’ll be happy to hear that thanks to a birthday present from Alice, I have that video and you can all see the lovely chunks surround that baby shark. Alright so after all of this mayhem we got the call to gear up and we were headed off…this time Group 2 was ready to see action (see I told you…like the marines) and we jumped in and swam apart to form to groups. I looked around but couldn’t see a thing…then all of a sudden this huge shape took form, I could make out a mouth but not really anything else and then I realized that

Jen and I showing you where we are and where the line is. was because it was heading straight for me. So I swam back as quick as I could and just watched as it swam by maybe a few feet away from me. At first I was so shocked I just watched and then I remembered the whole “swimming” with the whale sharks and I took off right beside him. It was oddly calming swimming beside a whale shark. He had little fish that swam under him and he was probably about twice the size of me. If you swam behind him he looked like he could’ve had a part in Jaws but he had a very calm face like a whale’s, the name was right on the money. So after swimming for a few minutes we were called off and the next group took up the swim. We did this about five or six times with different sharks and every time I got a little more tired but not at all bored. It was just such a fascinating experience that every time I was swimming beside it, I couldn’t help but be a little stunned. Anyways we finished off the day with a glorious lunch and headed back to the harbour
Got we're tired
Flip and I passing out on the Don't Drive Tired sign. Don't worry we weren't driving. so we could drive back to our vans.
The next day we took a trip to Turquoise Bay which was in one of the National Parks up near Exmouth, it was an amazing beach, hot day, warm blue water. Anyone jealous yet? So we hung out there for the day and then got in trusty old Holly and headed off on our adventure home. The trip back was roughly the same as the trip up, we relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company and hit a few beaches whenever we could. In short it was a perfect ending to an amazing spring break…and then we were back in Trinity. Jen and I came home to a warm C-unit greeting. I suppose I haven’t really explained C-unit, oh how do I explain C-unit. It consists of Ty, Andy, Nat, Jen and I and we are all in the same corner of Cook Wing. Initially we didn’t really know each other that well, Ty liked to pretend he lived in Hull wing as he was always over there. Nat had a bunch of friends from her home school here so she spent a lot of time with them and Andy had already

Tell me that's not amazing been at Trinity for a semester so he had a good core group of friends. Jen and I had hung out with a bunch of girls from a different building, Alyssa, LD, Ash and Robyn. But eventually we got to know each other and things really clicked and thanks to Jen’s naming abilities…C-unit was born. As I’m writing this we’re all getting to leave in a week and I’m going to be leaving four of the most amazing people I have ever met, I don’t think I can really describe how much that breaks my heart, but the only thing that makes me feel a little better is knowing that Ty is planning on coming to our hemisphere to go to the States for an exchange so there will be a reunion in the future. And in the mean time there is the phone, and e-mail and letters and Facebook.
Alright so enough of that sad note, so we got home to a welcome home C-unit banner hung up in the hall and little easter chocolates hanging on our doors (courtesy of Ty). So cute. A few days later Nat came home from her trip down south and C-unit was
The Outback
Now tell me that isn't pure Aussie outback. reunited yet again. Chaos, of course, ensued afterwards.
