Well winter has arrived and so has the change in the weather, still we need the rain.
Week 5 started on
Sunday 1st June with the 9.00am service at St Peters. This week has again seen our involvement change and increase and for the month of June we have been included in the church worship roster. At today’s service Jess read the first reading
Act 1 : 6 - 14 then
led the Psalm.
Evelyn said
Prayers for the People. It is a privilege to be involved at this level with the congregation.
Monday 2nd June and we started the next task at St Peters, repairing the Font. One section had come away from the top and three others required internal supports to be reglued. We will then be applying a coat of Danish oil to the Font, the Credence table and the Lectern. So this will keep us busy and out of the weather plus Evelyn continues to assist the Op Shop when required.
Late last week we spoke to Revd. Roger about Bible Study groups at St Peters but unfortunately there are non-held. So we offered to hold a Bible discussion session at the Church on a
Tuesday afternoons, starting at 1.30pm for about an hour. Revd. Roger was happy for us to do this and announced it at the end of Sunday's service.
So on
Tuesday 3rd June we arrived at the Church not sure who would attend. We were only a small group, Evelyn, Jess & Suzanne (Revd. Roger's wife) but the session was very special and included great discussion, We were so blessed.
We started with a prayer followed by Keith & Kristyn Getty's
'Holy Spirit'. As we were discussing
‘John 17 : 1 - 11' we listened from David Suchet's reading of John that we have on our iPad, something different. After we discussed the reading and what word or sentence spoke to us we ended with prayers and an opportunity to light a candle. We are now looking forward to what next Tuesday brings.
Wednesday 4th June saw the return of Maureen and the end of our house & dog sitting. As mentioned in the last Blog Revd. John Grace and his wife Yvonne had moved, at the request of Bishop John, to Westernport and so the Manse here at Mallacoota was empty. We had planned to move our
caravan to the Manse and spend some time with John & Yvonne but as the Manse is empty it was suggested that it would be better, for us, if we moved into the Manse for the rest of the time we are here in Mallacoota this also gave us the opportunity to take the caravan to the local auto electrician because of a problem with the fridge.
Once again God continues to be so good to us and we continue to be thankful for what he provides.
At the time of publishing this Blog entry Bishop John is in the Monash Medical Centre in a critical condition so we ask that you include him and his family in your prayers. On
Thursday 5th June we left Maureen's and moved to the other side of the main street into the Manse. The Manse is a two story house in a nice part of Mallacoota and we are looking forward to our time there as we continue to work through our list of tasks. Our feathered neighbours were busy investigating the new occupants.
Friday 6th June and it was back to St Peters to
start applying the Danish oil to the Font which we had cleaned to remove any dust, wax and grime build up. We will of course let you all know how it turns out next week.
As you all will know by now Jess is the one that puts the finishing touch to our blog, in other words the compilation and the typing of the words. Occasionally I feel that I have the need to add something. We have been here at Mallacoota for five weeks, five weeks that have been a joy and a time of getting to know people and increasing our knowledge of Christ's wonderful teachings, not to mention how to make church doors good again!! We feel privileged to have been sent to Mallacoota for our first BCA mission, a place that is so beautiful, one of Australia's best kept secret locations, God's creation in all of its glory. We have been so blessed to be in the company of the Revd. Roger and his wife Suzanne, two people who love the lord and wish to share it with all. They have both become special friends to us and two people that have taught us. We
are so thankful to people that we are meeting in our spiritual journey with the Lord. Wherever our journey takes us, we know that we are being truly blessed and fed spiritually to continue with our passion and love for our Lord. God has been so good to us, always with us, always guiding us, all we desire is to serve in the best way that we can and with all of the people that we have around us, always looking after us, how can we fail. God Bless you all.
