Today saw us arise and after a simple breakfast we travelled up the road from Glendambo to Coober Pedy - a distance of about 300Km. The motel room at Glendambo was typical outback, with a rattler aircon and a shower that sprayed the whole room. It had been cold overnight and we had to have the noisy aircon running which did not help sleep. On the way to Coober Pedy we saw two pairs of Wedge Tail Eagles and some evidence of road kill. The scenery did not change much until we got close to Coober Pedy. As we got close to the township we saw many tailing dumps obviously from Opal mining operations. We checked in to our Underground Motel and then explored the town.
We noticed as we arrived in Cooper Pedy that there were a large number of Aboriginal people hanging about. One Aboriginal man stopped a car and caravan unit and he was demanding money. I was amazed to see the man in the car give over some money as the Aboriginal people just use the money to buy alcohol.
