We left the tropical climate of the rain forest, and headed south from Port Douglas in a camper van to explore the rest of Australia's east coast as we made our way toward Sydney. White sandy beaches grace almost the entire coastline, and a string of islands and coral reefs dangles just offshore. Interesting towns along the way, the Sunshine Coast, the Gold Coast (which is the cheesiest, tackiest, ugliest crime ridden scum hole in Australia by the way), amazing rivers, fascinating wildlife, stunning capes, and a network of inlets and estuaries, make this road trek absolutely one of the most memorable continental drives in the world.
