21/3 We had to get up and check out by 10 this morning even though my boat wasn't leaving until 12. Kennedy and I were feeling very hungover this morning so we had to go to McDonald's for breakfast to stop ourselves feeling so sick. We were both so annoyed that we got so drunk the night before our boat trip because we felt so horrible this morning which we didn't want at all! Luckily once I got on my boat I actually felt a lot better. I think I was so excited and happy to be there I was distracted, plus all the fresh air probably helped. Me and Kennedy weren't on the same boats because she booked hers after me and mine had booked up so we got to make new friends again like on Fraser. As soon as we got on the boat we had pizza for lunch and the crew introduced themselves and told us what we would be doing for the next three days. It took about two/three hours to get to our first snorkel spot so we just relaxed and got to know each other. I wanted to try scuba diving so I snorkelled for
about 15 minutes and then had to go back to the boat to get ready with my scuba gear on. When we got in the water we started by doing some skills. We had to clear our mouth pieces and our goggles a few times which I seemed to be able to do so we went out a bit deeper. However when I went deeper my mouth piece kept filling up with water and I couldn't clear it so couldn't breathe- obviously that made me panic and my instinct is to go to the surface to breathe again. The instructor said that is exactly what you mustn't do because it's really bad for your lungs. I tried one more time but the same thing happened and she said if I can't clear my mouth piece I can't go down because I'm going to do serious damage to my lungs so I went back. I was so annoyed I couldn't do it but it's going to take a lot more practise before I can dive properly. When everyone was back on the boat we had tea and biscuits and just sunbathed on the top deck to dry off. We were then
given a platter of cheese, crisps, carrot sticks and that sort of thing with dips and a snack while we were all relaxing on the boat. An hour or so we had dinner then which was amazing! I can't believe how nice the food was and how much we were fed- I loved it. We led outside looking at the stars for a bit and then everyone went inside to look at the photos from the day which was cute. I was so shattered I went to bed then.
22/3 We had to get up at 7 for breakfast and I slept straight through until then. That was probably the best nights sleep I've had since I've been here which I was surprised at because I didn't think I'd sleep well on a boat. I can't remember the last time I slept all night without waking up so that was amazing and definitely needed. We sat outside eating breakfast and watching all the turtles come up for air after being asleep underwater all night which was so cool. We spent the morning at Whitehaven beach which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We walked to
a lookout point so we could see the whole beach and it was unbelievable. You see photos of places like this on adverts and think wow they look amazing but seeing it in real life is a million times better. We went down onto the beach to have some photos and go swimming. I saw a sting ray in the sea as well as fish and a little shark. Once we'd spent a few hours there we went back to the boat for lunch. We went to another bay this afternoon to do snorkelling. I decided not to give scuba diving another go yet because I know I'd just panic today after yesterday. Snorkelling was just as good anyway and I could take photos then which you can't do diving. There were loads of big fish that the crew were feeding so they all came to the boat and we could jump in with them. Once we'd been there a while we went round to another bay and went snorkelling again for a little bit. After we'd all got back on the boat we had nachos which were soooooo good! I haven't eaten this well in two months. We watched
the sunset which was so pretty. I keep sitting on the boat and thinking "am I actually here?" because it's so surreal living on a boat and being surrounded by such beautiful landscapes. Once again dinner was absolutely delicious. Me, Glenna, Georgia and Heather played uno after dinner while we waited for the slideshow. Kirsty the cook made rocky road for us to have while we looked at all the photos from today. When I booked my Whitsundays trip the travel agent gave me a few options of boats, some are very party orientated and others are more chilled and I went for a chilled one which I'm so glad about. I loved everyone getting together at the end of the day and watching the photos rather than just getting pissed all night. Plus snorkelling all day was surprisingly tiring so we all wanted to go to bed pretty early anyway. It was nice to have a few days of relaxing without any alcohol, any cooking for myself, and having plenty of sleep. 23/3 Breakfast was at 6:30 this morning so we could eat and then go for another snorkel before we had to leave
at 8:00. Although we were only
in the water about 45 minutes and there wasn't that many pretty fish this time I saw a turtle!! I got to scratch it's back and swim alongside him which has made my week! I really wanted to swim with a turtle and I didn't think it was going to happen because I hadn't seen any while I was in the water the last two days but that was the perfect way to end my trip. We were back in the harbour by 10 so we all said our goodbyes and then went back to our hostels. Luckily when I got back I could actually check in so I put my stuff in and then went to find somewhere to put my photos on a computer. As I was walking down the street I bumped into Glenna, Heather and Georgia who were going to find somewhere to have lunch and wait because they were leaving this afternoon so I went with them. Georgia didn't stay long because she was going back to her hostel but Glena and Heather had to wait until half 1 for their bus. They go to uni on the Gold Coast but are from USA so
they had to fly back today for lectures tomorrow. They were both really nice so I'm gutted I probably won't see them again. Once they left I went to sort my photos out and then met back up with Kennedy so we could go for dinner. We sat in reception for ages just talking and using the wifi because we were both so tired and hot. Eventually we found the motivation to get up and get ready to go out. Both our boats had an after party in the bar so we went over together. There was only 4 people from my boat there and they weren't people I had been friends with really so I sat with Kennedy and her friends. They drinks were really expensive and I didn't feel like going out so I didn't stay for long. If Glenna and Heather had been there it would have been so much fun but obviously they weren't which sucks.
