Shelly Beach on the Sunshine Coast, majority of which is covered in shells 07/12/2009 - We checked out of Colonial Village YHA for a second time then caught the shuttle bus to the Greyhound terminal. Just as we were leaving the owner ran up to us and thanked us for staying, then offered us some free candy, this hostel and its staff truly were outstanding. It was a good few hours before we reached the Caloundra turnoff where we were dropped off. The taxi we had booked earlier came as soon as the bus left, perfect timing, we took it to my Grandma’s house in Pelican Waters. It was good to see her again, it had been a few years since I was last here. For the rest of the afternoon we caught up and settled in for a relatively relaxing week here.
08/12/2009 - Another relaxing day really, enjoying the rest while we had the chance. Today I took Hannah to a nearby beach called Shelley Beach, it was famous for having places completely covered in shells. We spent a couple of hours searching for interesting shells and spotting crabs and other fish in the rock pools. As the tide became higher it was time to go, we jumped back into the

09/12/2009 - Today we were heading out to Underwater World, a massive aquarium in nearby Mooloolooba. Nan was very kind to pay for us both to get in, so eagerly we headed off for the day. I had been to Underwater World quite a few times before so knew what to expect, Hannah had never been. It was a fascinating and interesting day out however hadn’t really changed much since I came a good few years ago. We went to all the shows, most of which were brand new and so much better than the old ones I remember. We had lunch, then a bit more of a look around before decided we’d had enough and headed back home.
10/12/2009 - Today was hot, really hot. We decided to drive towards the famous Glasshouse Mountain to have a look around, it took ages. We finally arrived at the observation point where we had a fantastic view of the mountains and surrounding area. However there wasn’t really much to do here. We found a short hike and decided to walk it. Although short, the heat was intense and we were stuffed afterwards.

The impressive Glasshouse Mountains from the main observation lookout. We headed home, but decided to take the long way, through forests and between the mountains. We enjoyed just driving around randomly, on road and off to see what we could find. Eventually we found the highway and headed back home.
11/12/2009 - Today we were heading into Noosa. Both Hannah and I had both been there before but Noosa was too beautiful to pass up on while we were here. It was an hour drive into Noosa, we managed to find a parking spot and head into town to have a look around. We wandered around and headed towards the beach, but unfortunately didn’t bring our bathers for a swim. Instead we went to get some lunch, as cheaply as possible, our funds were getting very low. We decided the food court was the best option today. When we finished lunch we headed back to the car and drove to a nearby lookout point. From here we could see all over Noosa the views were unbelievable. I took some photos then jumped back into the car and headed back home.

It was another really hot day today and with our heavy backpacks we walked a dozen city blocks and caught a long bus ride to Hannah’s friend’s house. When we finally got their we were exhausted from the heat but after a brief catch up we headed out to meet some of Hannah’s friends and have dinner. It was a good meal but by the end of it both Hannah and I were ready for some sleep.
