Seisa to Muntee Heads

Takes about an hour a lot on soft sandy tracks.

8 - Cape York Tuesday 2nd June

Today Paul and his family left for home. But before anyone woke up I was woken up by noise in our camp hut. This was at 3 am in the morning. What did I find? An enormous horse tucking into a packet of bread crumbs. He had already eaten the sliced bread as well as kicked into the cask wine. I could not shoo him away. So I took so photos and I thought the flash would scare him. No such luck. So here I was at 3 am in the morning having a stand off with a 2 metre horse. I finally flicked him with a tea towel and that got his attention and he walked out. The horses here are gentle and run around the streets. They are all owned by the locals but they are on the streets and anywhere they can find grass which is everywhere. Paul and his family were going to drive to cairns but were not sure how far they could go on the first day. They made it to a town called Laura and stayed there overnight. In the meantime the three cars left in Seisa decided to go to a place called Muntee Heads. It is where the Jardine river meets the ocean. We took the Tinny on the back of Matthew's ute tray. Not sure it was legal as it was sticking out a lot from the tray. Anyhow we made it to Muntee with no issue. We used the tinny to take us over to the other side of the river to fish and have lunch. We remembered all our food this time and had a great lunch. I didn't fall into the water this time. Had a great day and left in the dark. On the way home came across a family of pigs. There was a sow, 8 juveniles and two babies. The pigs are feral in this part of Australia and a hunter would love to shoot these but not the case here. We stopped the car and waited for this family to cross our path. There was also an owl on the road as well as countless numbers of frogs. No luck with the fishing but we decided that we would leave Seisa tomorrow morning and come back and do some bush camping at Muntee Heads. Let's just
