Jellyfish
they'll sting you badly We left Airlie Beach the 11th of November to take the local bus to Proserpine and then to get on the Greyhound bus which would take us to Rainbow beach. It was a long ride and we arrived in Harvey Bay on the 12th in the morning around 7am. Had to wait for an hour and then jumped on the bus down to Rainbow beach through Tin Can Bay I think it's called. Anyways got here in the morning and stayed one night at a hostel called Dingo's pretty nice atmorphere and nice live music. Next day we checked out and moved in just next door to Pippie's, cuz we'd allready booked our Fraser Island tour with them. Had one day to kill in Rainbow beach before our trip. Rainbow Beach would probably not be anything without its get away ferries to Fraser. There is about 1000 people living here and maybe 3 hostels (And Pippies has the best employees and the best Fraser Package if you're not planning on renting a car yourself.)
Had some briefing that day too and went shopping with our group consisting of: 2 Swedish girl (me and Lisa), 2 South Korean boys, 4 Spanish
boys and 2 German guys. And the next day we where of before noon. Fraser is not a place to pass by and def worth seeing. It's gorgeous to drive on the beach seeing the waves break and creat the white foam B E A..utiful! We stayed on Fraser 2 nights and 3 days. first night we camped at a place called central station in the middle of the rainforest, almost. too much mozzies and all I can say it that camping is not really my thing! The next day we drove to the Champagne pools which is just as north as you are allowed to drive, (insurance stuff) it's called Indian point or head, I don't remember, anyways then you walk for aprox 30 minutes of this gorgeous beach where we found big shells and bluebottles lying on the beach. champagne pools should be visited when high tide cuz otherwise there are no water to swim in. after that we had to hurry back -because of the tide- to our cmaping spot for the night. We camped at a place called K'Gari where we met some aboriginal people whom had just been at a wedding dancing and stuff, and
parts of Fraser Island
It's the worlds largest sand island we also met a really really big spider and a dingo couple. probably the best sleep during camping that night! On the last day we drove inlands to Lake Allom, it's a dirty lake compared tp the other one's but you can still swim there if you care to. There ar probably hundreds of lilttle turtles swiming around down there. we saw maybe ten in just 15 minutes! Then we started our drive back to Inskip point and finally to Rainbow Beach. We had a stop over at the biggest fresh water creek on Fraser, it's called Eliee Creek. Me and Lisa had a lot of fun over there and hung out with some old Aussie men, they where all insanely funny and crazy. Porbably the best part of our Fraser trip we'd say! haha. We got back to Rainbow beach around 4ish and helped washing the car.
The ext day we were supposted to go Dolphin Kayaking but the weather was just horrible so they came and picked us up for surfing instead and we had an awesome time! And now when I'm writing this it's been almost ten days since we went to Fraser, and we're still stuck in Rainbow Beach. we ended up working for the surf school/shop. So yes here we are and I will updated as soon as we get out of here or when something exciting happends....
Rock on!
