Cairns / Atherton Table Lands / Tully River Rafting
(G) Just a quick update before we leave Cairns. We have been here in the tropical north for a couple of weeks now. Weather was not that kind to us to begin with (very wet and humid - to be expected when you are surrounded by Tropical rainforest I suppose!)
Needless to say that a couple of the downpours really put the tent to the test, it (thankfully) passed with flying colours.
The surrounding areas of Cairns ie Rainforest and Flat Lands etc are stunning (see pics)
We met up with a friend of Pauls and her partner for a couple of slap up meals (lovely Thai in Smithfield) which was really nice and have spent the day today White Water Rafting on the Tully River which was absolutely fantastic.
A quiet weekend is in store as the sun is now shining again (need to top up the tans!) and we are up extremely early on Sunday morning to go on a Hot Air Balloon. Then off for a quick drive up to Port Douglas where......wait for it.......we are booked into a very nice Hotel for the night,
Hurrah! (it has a bath and Mini Bar and everything! Woo hoo!)
Leaving Cairns on Tuesday morning to begin our drive through the Outback to Alice Springs and Uluru.
Will keep you posted.
Love to everyone
