We left Yeppoon around 9am with the intention of driving to Mackay and staying there for 1 night.

There were loads of roadworks on the way which added at least an extra 30 minutes to our trip. By the time we got to Mackay we'd been driving for almost 5 hours.

We looked at a camp site but it was more expensive than we thought so we decided not to stay.

There's not much to do in Mackay, so we stopped for lunch at Red Rooster and drove the extra 2 hours to Airlie Beach, where we'll now stay for 3 nights rather than 2.

We saw quite a few bush fires on the way, but not a lot else! We drove along the Bruce Highway to get here. We've been driving on it since before Noosa, its enormous!

Its been a very long day for us, as well as Ken (satnav) and Fish (camper van) so we're all chilling out tonight with a drink!
