HELLO EVERYONE!! its been so long since being able to get to a computer to update all my piccies!!
So the adventure began again on our Kakadu tour (which annoyingly wasn't as good as i thought it would be). I think this was because i had thought we would see safari animals like lions, tigers and giraffes - until i was informed that those aren't in Australia - oopps the blonde in me still rears its head (i get confused at times) - i still havent changed - i dont think i will ever get a sensible head on my shoulders - im just gona remain dappy im afraid!! So i was a bit dissappointed that i wouldn't see the animals - Anyway back to the story!! We did a Mary river cruise searching for crocs - it was cool cos we got to see this big croc catch a big barramundi - cool stuff! We saw a few other crocs along the way aswell which was great! We then headed to Barramundi/Maguk gorge (Twin falls was shut due to risk of flooding). So we went swimming in the plunge pool of the Barramundi. Along the way to this they
had signs up warning us of crocs - but apparently every year they do a survey of the area to check there are no crocs - thankfully we were ok! Very pretty waterfall and we saw lots of jumpiong frogs that were really tiny!! We also saw tons of termite mounds - huge! The next day we did Jim Jim falls, but as its only the start of the wet season there was no waterfal but a cool pool at the bottom which we paddled in! Then we went to Nourlangie rock to see Aboriginal paintings! Then it was hometime so off we went back to Darwin.
The next day was just a explore of Darwin, so we went to the saturday markets which were cool and just walked round the town.
So now was our mammoth tour from darwin to adelaide (3 day darwin to alice springs, 6 day alice to adelaide). The majority of the trip down was camping (pre-made tents were at each campsite so it was cool - hehe). The trip from darwin to Alice was basically a transfer between the two so there wasn't much to see on this trip. We were picked
up early for the tour (also on this trip every morning we were up between 4am-7am - great for early risers - i loved it cos u get to do more). We stopped off for brekkie and we saw the stuffed buffalo from Crocodile dundee - he was big.
Saw Katherine gorge - there were lovely croc traps floating happily in the gorge (all the more inviting to go in and swim hehe). That night we had the biggest and best storm i have ever seen. Thankfully we were in tents but some people had been sleeping in their swags. I woke up because i was getting wet as the rain was just coming through the front of the tent and soaking us and our bags so we had to re-arrange stuff and then it was sit back and enjoy the storm. The lightning completely lit up the sky (i tried not thinking about scary movies where its all dark and then everything lights up and u see someone stadning there outside - thankfully this didnt happen). The thunder was so loud - it cracked through the night and was the loudest i have ever heard! And the rain
was so hard as well, that a puddle was forming in the tent (dad u would'v loved it). It went on for hours!!
The next day we went to Matarankas thermal pools, and we were gona swim in the adjoining river but they had had sharks in there so we thought best not to!! We then traveled onto Daley Waters - a famous pub in the outback - everyone leaves a souvenir behind - our group left a T-shirt which we all signed and hung it up in the pub! Here we played bowling in the road - it was each country against each other - i got a half strike - get in!!! We then set off again and had a little break at Barrow creek telegragh station. This was near to where (you know those two english back packers girlfriend and boyfriend, and the boyfriend got killed but the girlfriend survived)!! Today was the day where we got the best sunset picture of our whole trip - the colours were amazing - really pretty!!
The next day we visited Devils Marbles - basically lotsa stones piled on top of each other due to erosion but obviuosly
back in those days it was considered magic or something!! We also stopped off in a place where there has been lotsa UFO sightings - we were even changed into aliens at one point here (you'll see wat i mean when u see the piccies). That night we arrived in Alice. We went out for drinks in Bo Jangles, and even had our picture taken with a real cowboy - hehe, me and ange were trying to take a picture and the ladies next to us asked if we wanted them to take it and then the cowboy with them jumped in and said did we we want him in it too - so we did!!
Next morning up at 4.45am for the next part of the trip to adelaide.
It has been hard putting on photos, so im only able to put a few on, so im picking the best of the bunch - but don't worry cos when i get home url have all 1000's worth of piccies to look through - hehe!!
Love bex xxx
