G'day Possums!!

Yesterday we decided to take the hop on hop off ferry around Sydney Harbour. This really is the only way to see this huge harbour. Everywhere you look there are new bays and inlets opening up, some are big some are secluded. We took the ferry to Manly which is very pretty and bustly. There is a huge sandy beach that is popular with tourists and residents alike. The town has loads of bars and eating places and feels very relaxed. We then went to Watsons Bay which was our favourite. It was delightful and we went on a long but spectacular cliff walk to Signal Point. The views back to Sydney and out across the sea were amazing. Even though it was very hot and we were tired it was well worth the effort. Back in the town we saw the famous Doyles Fish Restaurant which was packed with a long queue waiting to be seated. They do a takeaway service and the queue for this was even longer. All we had was a free smell!!!------ mind you we were so full from breakfast we could not have managed anything ( at least thats what Penny

In the Chinese Garden
told me to say!! )

Back in Sydney we ventured to the top of the Sky Tower which gave us stunning views around Sydney and it's only from here that you can appreciate how big it is.

Today we walked around the city, went to the Anzac memorial in Hyde Park, down into Darling Harbour which is a must if you visit Sydney. It is a large recently developed area full of restaurants, shops, features, tourist attractions and a wonderful Chinese Garden again well worth a visit. This along with The Rocks, Circular Quay,Opera House and Botanical Gardens are our favourite spots so far. We went to the Wild Life Sydney Zoo and saw crocs, roos, possums and Penny's favourite , a koala.

Tomorrow we fly to Christchurch New Zealand and will do another blog as soon as we can. Thank you for all of your comments, we do love reading them.

We got a real pang reading this and seeing your gorgeous photos. It all looks so familiar and just as beautiful as ever. You have managed to get a real \'flavour\' of Sydney in such a short time. Last time I was there I met my Aussie friend and we got that ferry out to Watson\'s Bay and we managed to get the take-away fish and chips. The queues weren\'t too bad then.There\'s another Doyle\'s on Circular Quay and Clair and I had dinner there on our last night in Sydney. We had the Opera House opposite and the Bridge just to the left...spectacular. Isn\'t it a fabulous city? So glad you\'ve enjoyed its charms. Your photos are just fantastic. That Aussie sky.....wow!! New Zealand still to discover. How fantastic. Can\'t wait for the next instalment. xxxxx

Last two days in Sydney.
Your pics have brought some happy memories back, especially the bridge, opera house and harbour! Your weather looks wonderful! You'll probably not be surprised to learn that the weather over here continues in stormy mode,in fact quite frightening on Saturday when we had a ferocious storm for about an hour with driving hail, thunder and lightning! Tense night tonight Chad as it's that derby game!! Have a good flight to Christchurch.

Gobsmacked from Streetly!
Your blogs and photos just get better and better! That's a clever photo of the pair of you at Watsons Bay with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the distance. Did you plan to be in Sydney on Australia Day? Look forward to hearing from Christchurch. Love Sheena x

Wow!
Hi Penny and Chad, it's wonderful to be able to read about your adventures and see all the great photos! Wow! It sounds as though you are having a wonderful time. The Chinese Garden looks glorious as do the stunning harbour shots. I agree with Penny - the koala's my favourite. Any chance you can bring him back? The grandchildren would love him

Sky Tower
G'day, I have happy memories of Sydney Sky Tower. I think it has a revolving bar, unless it was a very happy night and my vision was a bit wonky! By the way, we are the new Chad and Penny as Stephen and I have P and T responsibilities on a Tuesday. Think we're doing okay so far. Not lost anyone and no lates for school run- phew! Enjoy NZ love Janine&Stephen
