footbridge from Woolloomooloo to the AGNWS
this footbridge can be accessed from Bourke St Woolloomooloo and you pop out at back of the AGNSW facing the Brett whitley giant match and burnt match sculpture So the while gang is here now …. A bout of basically crap weather has turned us off the planned Blue Mountains trip so we decided to make a big day out in Sydney. The day started off
Walk to the Rocks Market It is quite a fascinating experience to see all the tourist memorabilia your own country produces. It’s just such weird stuff! Sayhankor is determined to get some stuffed Australian Animals with the GREEN TAG as that means it’s made in Australia and not China but I kinda think that’s irrelevant, since stuffed animals are not indigenous to Australia anyway. However stuffed kangaroo balls are and I didn’t see anyone JUMP to buy one of those for their key ring. I think the shark teeth pendants come from Indonesian terrorist sharks and should be boycotted on grounds of terrorist paranoia.
Catch ferry from Circular Quay to Watson’s Bay what a great idea to catch the ferry! This is a great short Ferry trip that stops at Double Bay, Rosebay and then Watson's bay. a lovely scenic ride and too short to get seasick and you end up at a great place to walk and then catch
a bus back to town.
Lunch at Doyle’s fish n chips in the park no photos of the delicious fair...too busy eating.
Walk to the Gap This is the place where Sydney-siders throw themselves and each other off. the most recent notorious flight from the Gap was that of model Caroline Byrne vicariously connected to also notoriously deceased Sydney Stock Broker Renee Rivkin and his dark following.
Catch the L82 bus to Chinatown passed Paddington Markets as they were packing up and also passed Max Brenner's Chocolate shop which I am determined to take my cousins to, though today was not to be.
Have dinner at BBQ King we ordered Peking duck and Suckling pig. the skin on the pig was like leather and the duck was OK. BBQ King is cool and iconic like one of those chinese joints you see in the movies, it's also opened really late. however the local knows that Emperor's Garden beats BBQKing hands down on food. I've tried their Peking duck and they do bother the cut and present it in front of you...... but then again i also had a distinct memory of the music they had playing
the domain
city looks down on to the domain which is a place where Sydney has it's outdoor concerts. My photo does't do justice to the amazing skyline this park has. in a loop in the back ground..."Sacrifice" by Elton John perhaps a little too apt to be appetising. Yet again the toss up between atmospherre and food....but one atleast can be assured of all round surly service all over Chinatown.
Walk home via Martin Place and if that wasn't enough...after 10 hours of walking amy called in the evening to ask if anyone was up for a drive to the other side of the bridge to see sydney from the other side and walk around Luna Park.....twa Kor, sayhankor and Howard were out like a shot! glad I'm not a tourist..... I was quite happy to kick back at home smug in the knowledge that I had done that in context of "real life" or whatever they call it these days.
