Hi all...this feels a little strange blogging about my own country and someone else's holiday in it, but here goes.
Twa Kor arrived on a sunday which happens to be my salsa day so I came home from dancing to find dad and Twa Kor at the Woolloomooloo house. the next day I took Twa Kor walking all over inner city Sydney but first twe kicked it off with a hearty breakfast at Dov in Victoris St Potts Point.
Basically i did the classic walking tour of sydney to apy attention all you peeoples who wanna spend some quality time down under.....
Have Breakfast in potts Point or the Cross .... such places as Dov , Bar Coluzzi , La Lateria, la Buvette come to mind but the list is endlessssssssss
1) walk down the main drag of the Cross away from Wiliam St, and you will find lots of brass plates inlaid into the footpath that will tell you interesting this about the area.....if you are a local, ignore them like I did for at least 5 years before tripping over one in your stilettos or until your twaKor arrives and reads every single one of
them! this will not in the least attract the attention of resident street scum and strip joint owners.
2) Keep following the road past the FAMOUS Kings cross fountain which may be full of bubbles if someone has squirted dishwashing detergent in it as is the local tradition. Now continue down hill and don't forget to say a big "hello sailor!" to anyone in uniform as you pass the naval base..... this is a sydney tradition for welcoming those who cross the seas and will be always well received.
3)hopefully you will end up on Cowper Wharf Rd where you can look at the rich people eating in expensive restaurents on the finger wharves. here you may refine your skills at staring at whilest looking like you are completely ignoring them.
4) when you reach the end you have a choice of walking along the road that will take you to the North shore and surely kill you or vere right up the stairs which will lead you to the "Domain". Here you will come acros a quiet road which leads to the art gallery of NSW to your left and the Botanical gardens to your right and if you cross the road you will be in the "Domain". the domain is a huge grassy area where sydney holds concerts and moonlight cinema in Summer....But since it is not Summer but a stealy winter day me and Twa Kor head right to the Botanical gardens.
5) the road here is actually a loop with various gates that give onto the gardens. You can either walk the loop to it's apex and find "Lady Macquarie's Chair" (basically a good lookout) or get straight into the gardens like we did.
6) the gardens...one can spend ages in the gardens and me being lazy and local rushed TwaKor through it with the promise of the Opera House.
7) To find the Opera house just get to the water and keep following the coast line keeping the water to your right. sooner or later you just pop out at the steps of the Opera House. this is about the time you get a bit fed up of walking so I guess it was a good time to take a few photos of twa Kor.
8) Keep walking and you'll get to circular Quay and if you have any sense you'll get a train and go somewhere where you can sit or lie down. We of course do not do that as I have to check out a sale at the QVB (Queen Victoria Building) which luckily is also a sydney attraction giving my alterior motive an alterior motive.
9) By this time peak hour has just hit and we high tail it out on a train and cab it back to the house where is Daddy is waiting to take us out to din dins.....
Welcome to Sydney!
