Hello again!!
Hope that all is well in the states... I'm still loving it here in Sydney and am discovering even more amazing things about this place each day!!!! The last 2 days have been a little more relaxed, which have been nice, as we have a busy week ahead of us!
Yesterday we lounged around for a bit, finalizing some of our plans for our trip up to the Great Barrier Reef and a few other things we plan to do in Sydney. I went on a nice run around the Opera House, Botanical Gardens, and the Rocks, and definitely enjoyed running along the path next to the Ocean-- very refreshing!! After doing that, we got ready and had an early dinner with Kara's mom and aunt, who are also here, and had a delicious fancy meal-- the seafood is definitely as good as they say it is here! Once we finished dinner, we walked around a bit and touched up back at Kara's before going to see a play at the Opera House. We saw "The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged)" It was a comedy that did the 37 plays of Shakespeare in 97 minutes... it was
hilarious!!!! Even if you haven't read a lot of Shakespeare, it was still easy to understand as they made a lot jokes. There were only 3 actors in it and not really much of a set either, just props. I really enjoyed it! However, we did have quite an embarassing experience going into the play... Kara and I went with 3 other of her guy friends, and since she had their tickets, we had to wait for them to get there. Well, they showed up late, so we had to walk in late. When they took us in, they said it would be just a few minutes before they seated us, so we just watched from the doors. The comedian saw us though, and told the usher to bring us in... as the 5 of us were walking in he said "Yeah, this place is pretty hard to find". Everyone started laughing and it was actually really funny, but completely embarassing because everyone was just staring at us!!! haha. Oh well, good story to tell 😊
We also got to take some nice pictures by the Opera House and Bridge afterwards, which was nice. Once the play was over and we finished taking pictures, we went to the Opera Bar, which is right underneath the Opera Bar... it's actually a really fun and hip place. They even had Strongbow-- my favorite cider/beer from London-- I was so excited about that despite the high price!! Then we stopped by Argyle for a little bit and then headed home. Overall a very fun night!!
Today I got up a little earlier than Kara, so I headed down to the Rocks were there was a Sunday market. I love going to different markets and looking at the different and crazy things they have there. Lots of jewelry, scarves, and food. I bought a bracelet and picked 3 beads to go along with it... a nice little keepsake from Sydney 😊 Once I got back to the apartment, Kara and I headed to the Botanical Gardens. It's basically a huge park with tons of beautiful, colorful flowers. It actually reminded me a lot of Hyde or Regent's Park in London, but just more flowers. I took lots of good pictures and close ups of flowers that will look great when I get them printed. After walking around the Botanical Gardens for a few hours, we walked along the water and then had some lunch with Kara's mom and aunt. Then, Kara took me to a place called Max Brenner's... you might have heard of it, because there is one in New York... it's a chocolate place that is absolutely to DIE for!! Kara had a brownie and ice cream and I had the chocolate souffle... extremely rich!! I felt obese after eating it, but it was so good that it was totally worth it!!
Now we're getting ready and were going out because it's Kara's friend Mike's last day in Aussie and tomorrow he's headed back to the states. The place we're going to is called Hugo's and I guess they have huge $5 pizzas and $5 cocktails which are the major attraction there... although I'm still stuffed from the chocolate that I might have to pass on dinner!
Tomorrow we are getting up early and going to Bondi Beach and doing a 3 hour beach walk from Bondi to Coogee Beach and then laying out for the rest of the day... it's supposed to be over 90 degrees 😊 Today was a beautiful day as well... I'm getting lots of sun, which is definitely nice-- it will be hard to come back to the Midwest!! On Tuesday we are going on a tour of the Blue Mountains and then Wednesday morning we leave for the Whitsunday Islands, which is where the Great Barrier Reef is. We are going to go snorkeling and sea kayaking and explore all of the beaches-- they're supposed to be the most beautiful beaches in the world! We'll be there til Sunday, so we have a pretty packed week ahead of us, which I'm very excited for!! Well, better go get ready!!! More later, take care!!
