Raffles -- Old and new The only negative experience in the 11 days we spent around Sydney was first arrival at the airport where it was raining (ok it happens)
the plane waited on the runway for an available gate, there was another half hour delay waiting for the luggage and finally a big queue for the taxis. Two hours between touch down and finally collapsing into a cab.
But from then on it just got better and better. We were in a luxurious apartment in Cape Cabarita, a peninsular on the Parmatta river with nearby a ferry service to Cicrcular Quay or Darling Harbour in the city.
Swimming pool, tennis courts, gym were all on site and a golf course down the road. We revisited the main sites including the fabulous Botanical Gardens -- all the main Australian cities seem to have them and all to an excellent standard.
Trips to the Blue Mountains and en route to Featherdale wild life park. It seems a bit like cheating to see animals and birds in a basically closed environment but the reality is that outside in the wild whatever you see is generally at a distance and probably asleep!
It was the same
Raffles Hotel -- long bar
cashew shells on the floor. situation in Cairns. Crocs hard to see in the river but in the wild life park with the local Crocodile Dundee doing his stuff, then you see the crocs really move!! Touristy but more fun!
