Hey everyone!!!! Hows it going? Sorry i've been so rubish and not written in like a month! But here i am now making up for it, lol!! All settled in to life down under now! Managed to find a flat in the end and it was sooooo nice to get out the hostel! It's quite small still and we're sharing two to a room to try and save some money but its all ours and we got a nice little living room as you can see....and you can actually see (well if you squint lol) the harbour bridge from our windows, how cool is that?! We get awesome views of the fireworks which seem to go off almost every weekend, very bizzare as i have no idea what they are celebrating!!
Got a job too, its VERY dull! Some insurance company out at Milsons point, but it pays the bills-im on the equivalent of 10 pounds an hour and for what im actually doing there, its pretty damn amazing!! Plus i get to go over the harbour bridge EVERY day and see the opera house! :-D
Am just trying to remember where i left off last time, i think
it was Mardi Gras weekend?? That was eventful, lol! Some of the floats and especially the costumes were very outrageous!! Sarah had a friend that lived on the parade route so we managed to get really good views and the atmosphere was brilliant! Got some really cool photos, don't our outfits look awesome?? St Patricks day was really good here too, a mini festival in the park just down the road from us, there were soooooo many people there!! And there was live irish music and dancing-it was such a wicked day! Made me wish i was irish, lol!
Had a mini heatwave the week after...it was disgusting almost 40 degrees! That was the week we moved into our new flat and it was just sweltering and the train journeys in the morning to work were just disgusting, imagine 100s of people crammed in at rush hour in that heat, euuugh!! Bad times, lol! Its much better now though, its cooled right down although its still gorgeous!
Been to the beaches quite a few times, Bondi, Coogee, Bronte are all lovely (they're all little coves and run down the east side of Sydney)and last weekend we tripped up
to Manly on the ferry which was beautiful!! Really goregous beach and little wharf area with tonnes of restaurants and bars to sit out at, at night! I think we're actually going to go back there next weekend for Fionnualas birthday and have a nice meal! They do the most amazing pizzas there! And im gonna throw it out there.........best in the world even!....SERIOUSLY!! Lol...chicken fajita flavour, yummmy!! Haha, enough of the food though lol! I finally got myself a swimming costume and you'll be glad to hear ive started my swimming training again!!! (Dad!!!!!!!!!) I've actually really missed it, although i didnt realise just how unfit i am? I thought i could just get back in and be able to do the same as before! NO CHANCE! Lol!
Been out a lot to various bars and clubs, theres World bar just up the road from us, which has cheap nights for travellers and students, and darling harbours nice if you want to go and get some cocktails, coz the bars are lovely! Very pricey though! The big clubs here all tend to playreally rubbish music, a lot of house and techno which the sydney lot love...but its a
tad too heavy for me, but we go all the same!
Theres always something going on over the weekends here so we've been kept pretty busy!! Easter was wicked we had four days off work!! :-D Although everything shuts down here on bank holidays even good friday so we were pretty lost with what to do, i think that was probably a take away and dvd night, lol! You know i love them! Went to the Sydney Wildlife World on the saturday in darling harbour and saw my first kangaroo face to face and some koalas, which were pretty cute! Mum-you'll have to show these pics to Laura because she looked at the photo on Facebook and thought the snake i was standing next to was real, hee hee!
This weekend is the redbull flugtag...apparantly the first one in Sydney...you've probably seen the adverts on tv for the ones back home? People jumping off stands in random flying contraptions they've built!! Should be a good laugh anyway and its down by the harbour (which i cant get enough of) Fionnualas back in Oz today too, yaaay! She had to 'pop' home for her sisters wedding lol so looking
froward to seeing her again!
Next week its Surrey Hills festival (which is down byt he hostel we lived at before) and theres gonna be live bands and stall and stuff so thats all good! Got lots of birthdays coming up soon, three actually in the next two weeks, so lots of stuff planned! And i think we're going to go to melbourne at the end of April and do the neighbours tour!! I CAN"T WAIT!!! sad-i know? And theres the great ocean road tour to do which is supposed to be really beautiful! getting itchy feet staying in on place, the east coast is calling my name, i just want to get out and see things!! But i love Sydney and i can't believe how quickly its come to feel like home! Feeling much better now and am not quite as homesick as before, would love to see everyone but i don't wanna leave Sydney....can't you all just pop over to see me? haha!
Oh and yeah, i want to use this opportunity to wish Mum and Laura a happy birthday for this week!! Hope you both have lovely days, am sorry i can't be there-i wish
i could! Hopefully the presents will make up for it, just think how far they've travelled? Pretty amazing! And Laura i hope you thrash Dad at karting! I'm counting on you!!!!! Don't let the side down! ;-)
Anyway i'd best go, enjoy the photos, lots of love xxxxxxxx
