Another lovely family we met :)Another lovely family we met :)Another lovely family we met :)

Kiama and Ilana with Greg, Laura and their daughter Lily (their son Shau is not in here as he is asleep, bless him).
Since Christmas, we've met up with Ilana and Kiama's ex-babysitter who is now married and has a small family 😊 Her husband is a famous Australian percussionist in a band called Circle of Rhythm. We also visited some old villages which reminded us of the Wild West American villages that you see in movies and went through the capital of Australian Country and Western music, Tamworth. We stayed near Glen Innes for a night, which was founded by Scottish people and where they celebrate Celtic festivals. We went there to do some Sapphire fossicking. Ilana found some small clear ones!
Many people visit Port Stephens to see dolphins and that is why we went there. We cruised on the Imagine Catamaran and saw some dolphins swimming some meters away. There was also a baby dolphin with it's mother :D Sadly they didn't do their renowned big jumps or come close enough to be touched. However the Catamaran anchored near Cabbage Island where everyone could snorkel and swim. We saw a variety of tropical fish under the water and sea eagles flying above. The next day we visited the sand dunes near Anna Bay. These impressive sand dunes are where some

movies have been filmed like Mad Max. It looked like the edge of the desert. Pumice stones can be found here. One can walk up the dunes (which is what we did but not very far), drive with ones 4WD, zoom around on a quad-bike, go sand boarding and even ride a camel!
We are now spending our last night in Sydney. Yes, we were here for the famous fireworks of New Year's Eve 2007!! There were soo many people in the city, we have never seen anything like it. It was packed around the river's edge! We finally managed to find a park with a brilliant view, where we celebrated the turning of the year 😊 Yup, it was quite a sight!
Yesterday we walked around the Sydney Opera House, the iconic architecture is based on sails. We discovered hundreds of big fruit bats hanging in the trees in the Royal Botanic Gardens nearby :D Very cute things. They look like birds with foxy faces when they fly! We passed the National Gallery of NSW where we went to today. There is a whole floor dedicated to Indigenous Aboriginal Art and we also viewed a temporary exhibition by

the aboriginal artist Kitty Kantilla. After that we took the ferry to Manly Bay and strolled around. This bay is one of Sydney's popular beaches.
