After the fireworks, view from the Opera House
Arrived in Sydney from Melbourne on the 28th December after seeing England perform so well again in the Ashes, but at least Christmas was fun. Back to Sydney again, for the 3rd time and hopefully for a while. Sadly the money ran out in Duty Free at Heathrow so its time I returned to reality and got a job. I will keep you posted but after watchign some A-League soccer out here, I'm certainly not ruling that out! My first few days back in Sydney was largesly catching up with Lawrence and Adi and the Irish Ladies! Was fun, lots of drinking and dancing but sadly not a lot of daylight seen!

News Years Eve in Sydney has the reputation of being pretty special, so the bar had been set very high. It was unbelievable just how many people were in town for the night. Over 1 million people in the harbour area alone. It was the Harbour bridges 75th Anniversary so this year was suppost to be bigger than ever before.

We had tickets for Jacksons bar which was over the road from The Four Seasons Hotel and right in the heart of the action, we boozed heavy

until maybe 11.15 and then hit the streets looking for any space in which to see the bridge and the fireworks. We headed to Circular Quay and found a group of the smallest Chinese girls we could and pushed in, brave old 6ft2 English boys me and Lawrence. The view was actually pretty good and most people had been waiting hours, poor old chinese girls but thanx. My old man, Carole and Thomas waiting at the Opera house for the best view for 12 hours, mad but apparently they had the best view possible! The fireworks were awesome and everyone was in really high spirits, could barely move a muscle but it was brilliant to see in the New Year in such an awesome place. 10 minutes later we were back in Jacksons and well on our way to drunkville. Got to about 3am and started to feel rough so ended up walking to the Opera house and Bridge to see what it was like after the million people had left. Messy was my first thought but then the bridge was lit up in the background and it was beautiful, so romantic on my own! Stayed in little Dublin as

Behind bars, sorry ladies look but dont touch!!
the lovely ladies let me sleep on their floor in my hour of need, cheers girls.

Great start to 2007 and I had the flu or food poisoning or something horrible so checked into a 4 star hotel to chill, even had a mate to keep me company, Mickys twin brother Jon which was cool. Good lad! 2 days in bed and I'm out and raring to go again, bring it on!!

Went to the final day of The Ashes at the famous SCG on the 5th Jan but sadly due to a collapse (unusual) by the England batters the day before we only got to watch an hour or so of the cricket and the Aussie celebrations! Well worth the 60 quid a ticket I bought on Ebay!!
