back in sydney

Well im back in sydney now and what a time i had at the farm to be fair,

At first i found that the long hours (and lack of pay) and the type of work (bashing fence posts into the ground and wrestling sheep) wasnt really my thing and i very nearly up and quit after 2 days,

But luckily i stuck at it, i had some great times,

Got to know pretty well the 2 people i stayed with in our shearers quarters, namely paul (the crazy irishman/IRA member) and annie (The crazy german who will kidnap murrays son) and they were both awesome people, annie was good for looking after me and being a bloody good chef and paul well, actually hes not good hes a bastard. And im 90% sure he was in the IRA at some point in his life. Only joking hes lovely (im not joking about the IRA thing)

The owner of the farm murray and his wife were more than accomodating and even took us to the pub atleast once a week for a few schooners of reschs and a big mixed grill at the local pub (The Goolie at Gooloogong)

Some pretty cool times were had there with the local kids including me getting a bit too drunk and waking up outside on the back of a truck in the middle of nowhere (that was fun trying to get back)

Mostly i enjoyed the varied work such as the calves and cows, which mostly involved mustering them on a quad bike or holding there legs back while murray branded and marked them (marked=cutting the balls off.....he even did it to the cute ones) oh and getting scared to christ my bulls (theyre bloody huge and mark asked me to walk 2 over to a paddock and gave me a plastic tube to defend myself)

But theres loads of stories, too many to list so i wont bother, it was a true aussie experience and made me realise alot about what i eat and where it came from, defnitely glad i did it.

Now im back in sydney, in a hostel called the Asylum, pretty cool actually, im smack bang in the kings cross area that is pretty much the red light district and is full of people on nights out, pretty much every night, kinda like being in the middle of london actually, real good laugh and the people are nice too (staying with 2 yanks right now)

looks like ill have to be here 2 weeks though because the bank has lost my bank card so are going to have to resend it and i need my tax file number, so meanwhile im going to get some new sunglasses, a new jacket (left my one in the back of a certain girls car) and some new t shirts because mine have all been ripped with barbed wire,\

Back in sydney
We were thrilled to have such a good letter and photos as well. The sky is blue and that confuses us as we are conditioned to think it black/grey - noticed some puddles on the ground in one photo!!!?Now that's what we do understand! No word of economic melt down ?- Australia is getting more attractive by the minute!!! If you've got no idea what I am talking about then we should all definately be there!!! This could be the very move we've been practising for!!!!? Enjoy your time in Sydney. Loads of love,
