Bill and Pauline's Cool bus
Day 85

Sitting here on this glorious sunny and warm, no, scratch that, hot day cooled only by the ocean breeze, the tide is coming in across the rocks below our camp site and the distant horizon, so vast, reveals the curvature of the earth.

We have decided to have a holiday and extend our stay here, with such a beautiful outlook, however that does come with a small problem, the pitch that we are on is booked from Sunday night, the new occupiers will arrive and spend 32 nights here which means that if we want to stay at this camp site we will have to move to a different pitch, still only 4 places down, and still overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

A holiday? I can hear you all asking, well we have been very busy of late, it is not easy doing this travelling you know. Packing up, driving to a new location, sight seeing on the way, pitching for the night, writing the blog, playing mini golf, sorting through photos, oh and not to mention feeding ourselves and washing our clothes in between. Sometimes you do need to stop and take in the scenery and

enjoy it for what it is otherwise you get to look at everything but not really see it, if you get my drift.

I took some time this morning to clean my camera lenses; they get surprisingly grubby when you are taking photos every five minutes. Andy has been sat writing the blog for yesterday, I have been sorting through my maps, what I don’t need goes into the big map box in the trailer and the maps that I do need stay in my makeshift map box in the car just behind the passenger seat so that I have good access.

I hope with a few days resting here that I get a little bit of time to sort through some photos and delete any rubbish ones and make sure the good ones are tagged properly for future reference. We have taken over 3000 photos between us already. The problem we have, sometimes when we upload the blog is that we have not had time to sort through the pictures so do not always get chance to show you the best of the best. We do however make sure that you get pictures, which at least tell

‘the story’.

I (Andy) have been talking to our next door neighbours, they have a brilliant camper bus, smaller than a single decker, but bigger than a mini bus, its really cool. Bill is Dutch and came over in 1956 and Pauline is an out and out Australian, they have two Dachshunds, One long haired called hound called Karma and the other traditional hound called Rusty. Rusty likes to sit in the drivers seat and I am doing my best to get a picture of him through the drivers window, as it looks like he is driving, but he is a little wary of me at the moment. These guys all live in Melbourne and they have just come up to Shell harbour for a break.

Their bus is called Shirade after Pauline’s Grandchildren Siobhan and Miread, Bill was suggesting it was old, but does it matter? As I have said before with the “Teardrop Caravan” as mentioned in blog day 75 21-01-2009 Coo ee from Gilgandra, it is all about having fun, if you’re having fun then it’s OK and its doesn’t mean your going to get any more fun out of a new $200,000 dollar Winnebago,

the wrapping is just fancier but the fun is still the same.

Karma, doesn’t have a bark, if you can imagine the sound you would make when you have a really bad cold and a sore throat, this is the sound she makes, apparently the other dog Rusty acts for her, Karma barks and Rusty does the running.

I have forced Caroline to try to do nothing today as we feel we have been flat out, the only things we did was to go and get our camping gas recharged and go and post the blog for yesterday. I am so pleased that we have extended our stay at Shell harbour as it is absolutely fantastic, the view and sound of the sea is great.

It will give us time to take stock, and prepare for our onward journey, yes I know its going to be a pain in the bum taking down and moving tomorrow, but for another three days of this I know it will be worth it.

We have been listening on the radio today, as some sporting events have had to be cancelled due to the heat wave, its 45 Degree’s in

places like Melbourne and Adelaide.
The guy the other side of us said this extremely hot weather is here at least for another week and a half.

As the tide rolls in so does the blustery wind, we do our tea and settle down, Caroline is producing an excel spread sheet of all the sites we have stopped at and the personal ratings we have given them, you never know you may do something useful with these statistics.

We have had a short walk tonight just across the track in the sand down to the water and along the rocks and back to trailer, just to walk a bit of tea off before bed.

Until tomorrow bloggers.

Missing you all, but not missing England!
