We’ve not had much blogging opportunities since leaving Sydney so for once I’m writing this blog much later than I do normally. I will try to remember all of the highlights and fun!
Food &Wine: I’m starting with this because it was fabulous. Three meals stand out in my mind from our last week in Sydney. The first one was early in the week when Shane made us all an amazing feast of tuna steak starters, t-bone steaks, creamy mash and vegetables. And I made banana cake too for dessert but the steaks took the cake (haha)! Sommelier Kramer chose a bottle of Two Hands Gnarly Dudes (now my favourite but they don’t make it anymore-thanks for sharing Kramer!) and Abercorn Shiraz for the steaks. Amazing.
On Thursday night Maja and Steve treated us to the most incredible meal at their favourite restaurant in Freshwater. It was a spectacular meal and a great night out. Special mention goes to my dessert, which I now declare is the best dessert on earth: pecorino cheese with honey.
Friday night we were treated again to a great meal, this time at Treen & Lanesy’s. Treen made oriental-style whole snapper with all
the trimmings. Yum!
I know I said three meals stand out but a shout out must go to Ray’s pizza around the corner from Steve & Maja’s, which was our last meal in Sydney.
Would you like to know how much weight we put on in Australia? Well, we can’t tell you because we refused to weigh ourselves but you should be able to see in our photos that we’re looking rather more round than usual!
Golfing & Shopping: We spent quite a bit of time in our last week golfing and shopping. We had a few lessons left with Ollie and played a few holes on our own. We’re getting slightly better the more we practice—funny how that works.
We had a bit of shopping to do as well to prep for the rest of our trip and our top purchase was a new camera.
Good friends: We did really well our last week and got to spend time with everyone we love in Sydney. I mentioned before we had a great night with Treen & Lanesy and we got to see their house for the first time and their newly renovated kitchen-very nice!
We were also treated to a lovely day out by Kramer's Mom, who drove us all around the Northern Beaches of Sydney.
On the weekend Ree, Kanch, and Ethan came down and spent the night with us. Great fun! Shane will be blogging separately about a couple of incidents that weekend; I would just like to say that I love Ree, Kanch and Ethan to bits and it was fantastic that we got to spend time with them again before we left. Please feel free to skip Shane’s blog. :o)
The six weeks we spent with Maja and Steve just seemed to fly by and all of a sudden it was time to say goodbye. Well, it was more a “see you later” as we will see them in Croatia in another 5 weeks for their wedding, but it was quite sad nonetheless. We’ve been gone a week now and we miss them loads! Hopefully they miss us too, although I think we’re all due a bit of a break from the amazing and plentiful food and wine we’d been indulging in. Now time to shed those new pounds…
So that’s Australia and half our trip
is over. And what an amazing half it was.
