Southern Cross UNI
View from my office....and no car parking shortage here Unfortunately, the BLOG-SITE server had a breakdown and this site is one of our entries that was lost, so you can just ignore it or read it again.
Thought you may like to get an idea of what we are up to these days: we are still renting a house at Woolgoolga while our home is being built at Corindi Beach, hopefully this will be complete by early July.
I'm working as a lecturer at Southern Cross University at Coffs Harbour 3 days a week. The campus is new and it's a fabulous environment, there is a great area outdoors and my office overlooks the Great Dividing range. It's a sharp contrast to Swindon and I doubt the students here know how lucky they are!
John has been approved as a diving instructor with SSI (Scuba Schools International). He is working on an adhoc basis at Dive Quest which is based in a sleeply coastal village called Mullaway. He's really enjoying this and finding the young marine biology, college students a 'fun' challenge. The Solitary Islands marine park is protected which means that some species are flourishing. The grey nurse sharks are back here now and we
are really excited about the imminent return of the Humpback Whales on this coastlinefrom May to October.
John's neice, Emma and her boyfriend Ant stayed with us for 16 days and our friends Sam and Andy are renting next door to us now for 2 months while they look for work in the Southern Hemisphere. This is great for me as Andy loves cooking and does this for all of us the days I work. We first met Sam and Andy in Galapagos- Andy's parents happen to live in Standlake so we've stayed in touch ever since. John's 2nd cousin Louise and her husband Peter visited us last week-end which was great, they live in Brisbane. We look forward to having guests in our own home very soon.....so get yourselves on the list............!
