Wow! the first word uttered out of my mouth upon seeing the coastline.
What a beautiful beach, the lighthouse gives it charming feel but what strikes me the most is just how turquoise the ocean is!!! intense colour!!. Almost as nice as Blackpools alluring coast.
Byron is a nice little town with a mix of hippies backpackers and your normal holiday makers, and refreshingly devoid of all the chains like McDonalds and Burger king, consists of basically one main street with a gorgeous beach and coast line at its end, and good nightlife. esp. Cheeky Monkeys!
We went kayaking out in the sea and were amazed at how soon we were surrounded by Dolphins! they even came up close and made eye contact it was amazing to experience & just see first hand. The sense of their intelligence was apparent in the way they eyed us up, i was half expected one of them to ask me how i was!! But before we knew it we had to paddle inland as our guide rather calmly infomed us of a tiger shark that had been spotted close by, was making its way inland, it did'nt help our bowel movements at
Byron Bay Lifghthouse
Could see Surfing Dolphins from here (without the board!) all when a wave came gushing over us and tipped us out of our double Kayak. Cue multiple frentic attempts at climbing back in only for the damn thing to capsize again!!! Only a minute ago i had been expecting to have a conversation with a dolphin now i was expecting my legs to be chewed off by a shark in a franzy of brown sea water!!!.... horrible feeling.
The climb to the lighthouse was just awesome. Hard work but the view of the whole coastline and the surfing dolphins below was worth it.
