Green Acres Green Acres Green Acres

First Night of the Road
Moving right along on Rt. 95, we sailed through Georgia and on into South Carolina. We made better time than I thought....and Cory didn't even speed. I document it when he does in my little journal, you know. Pulled into a KOA campground only to be turned away like Mary & Joseph: no room in the inn, not even a pasture spot. We continued down the bumpy, holey, crappy highway called "95" - I wouldn't even give it a "2"! If I didn't know better - I would think we were on the New York State Thruway! Cory had the springs & shocks done on our rig but "Bang" every time we hit a hole in the road.....I love "The Big Bang - theory" but not all the banging in this metal box on wheels. It's a wonder every screw and bolt that holds it together is not missing by the time the journey ends. We moseyed further down the highway until we came to The New Green Acres RV Park, just off 95, in Walterboro, S.C. We got the last 50 amp. spot....whew! It was a woody (and dirt) campground but it worked. Cory decided to unhook our car so we could go to a restaurant. Chocolate Chip cookies, cheese, peppermint patties and chips didn't provide the food groups he wanted for a complete meal. Close by was a Ruby Tuesdays. Perfect. We toasted our friends and family....me, with my whiskey & ginger ale in a TALL glass and Cory with his strong Jack Daniels Manhattan. Here's to each of you.....There Are Good Ships & Wood Ships, etc......I tried their new shrimp po'boy flatbread...good but spicy. Cory had a steak. While sucking down our drinks, a couple approached us and asked about life in Wellsville, NY. How would they know we were from Wellsville you say? Before we start our treck home, I write in removable paint "Going Home to Wellsville, NY" on our car windows. How they knew it was us in that car....that I don't know....maybe we had the "Honey Boo-Boo" or Allegany County look about us. Anyway, they said they were from Jasper, NY.....a smaller town than Wellsville about 25 miles from us. They introduced themselves as Pete & Rosie Randell in case you know them. They had come from Pompano Beach where they helped their daughter move. Rosie (I think that was her name) said she

was a Nurse Practioner and Pete flew small planes. A very nice couple and we enjoyed our brief encounter with them. Maybe our paths will cross sometime once we are both back in the rural neck of our woods. Such a small world. FYI: Disneyworld's Small World attraction is 50 Years old this year....whoopee! Have you noticed how my mind wanders sometimes...just like a scrabble game! By the time we finished eating, heavy rains had started. Cory was glad he wasn't driving the RV through them. Back at the box, we settled in for the night. Whoops.....what the heck? Life with us is not without incident. We had put our one bedroom slide out so we could get around the bed. CRACK! SMASH! RIP! BANG! CRASH! Whoa......STOP!! We have a washer and dryer in the back of our bedroom. It is hidden by a bi-fold door. Well.......somehow, this stupid door came unlatched and when the slide out moved out....it caught the door and took it with it! Nice! Fortunately, it broke apart at the various seams of the door. Cory had to take part of it down, the rest just fell down. He thinks he can repair it okay once

Always something to do!
we get home (glue & clamps) - until then, we have a broken door riding on our bed for the rest of the trip. We could use it as the board in a bundling bed.....Google it if you don't know what a bundling bed is. I guess it could have been worse....like the slide out falling off the RV. You always have to keep things in perspective, right? Still a couple more days of traveling. Therefore, I am saving the Raisinettes tale for a later date....just to hold your interest and keep you with us. We love having you as traveling companions. We'll take you places you have never been and to some that you wish you hadn't been.....like South of the Border! Buckle Up!
