The topic i have chosen to talk about was the roman games that they used to participate in. It consisted of gladiator fights, chariot races and much more. The first gladiator contest was in 265 BC as part Of a funerary ritual. After a while they used the contests as a substitute for Human sacrifices in order to honor the dead. They also had different types of entertainment, like the amphitheater, which took place in the colosseum. To Romans, the amphitheater was symbolic to them Because Reenacted the roman point of view of victory over savagery and lawlessness. The colosseum also had executions which was also considered entertainment to some Romans because they saw people get eaten up by animals such as a lions. They also had a lot of holidays which consisted of people honoring the gods or the dead, or sometimes, the slaves.
