Well here is an attempt to get up to date. By the time we got back our hotel last night (or early this morning) it was just too late and we were too knackered to spend time doing anything but sleeping so I'll try to do a catch up.
Friday morning we met up with Robyn and Trevor around 9.30am and headed to a nearby mall for breakfast. Joy was good and had cornflakes and fruit while I pigged out on French Toast and sausage!! Yum!!
We then beat the feet and walked up one side of the Strip and back down the other visiting as many of the big hotel/casino buildings as possible. Places like Paris, Venetian, Ceasar's Palace etc. etc. were all visited. They are truly incredible buildings with features that replicate the city they are named after. We went up the 'Eiffel Tower' in Paris, wandered around the 'canals' and San Marco Pallazo in Venice and took the Roman architecture in Ceasar's Palace. We kept having to pick ourselves because it will only be a few weeks until we are in 'real' cities, riding up the real Eiffel Tower and watching gondolas on the canals in the real
Venice. However these places have done it very well and are incredible to view. Hate to think how many billions of dollars were spent. The 'man' in the Eiffel lift said the company recouped the $M30 it cost within 2 years.
We headed back t our hotel around 5pm to get ready to go to a show we had pre-booked for, the Cirque de Soleil 'Love' at the Mirage Theatre. Took a taxi down there at 6.30pm and entered the most amazing circular theatre. Not sure of the capacity but many many hundreds. We saw the most spectacular show I think we've ever seen. It was a mixture of acrobatics, gymnastics, dance, singing, music, acting and stage effects that were simply breathtaking. It was coreographed to Beatles music and the sound was incredible!!! Came away from there after one and a half hours just buzzing!!!
Met Robyn and Trevor at wandered around until we found somewhere for dinner and then took in more of the Strip that we hadn't seen during the day. We still on scratched the surface!!! Crashed into bed around 2am and YES we did spend a doller each on a 1c pokie machine. What a bore!!
It's highly over rated as an activity in my estimation!!!
This morning we picked up a rental car for the day and I drove us all to one of the very large 'Outlet Shop' centres where we all did a bit of retail therapy. We didn't go overboard as there is no room in the cases for anything else. A pair of Levis for me and some shoes for Joy. But man - was it hot here today hovered around 40 degrees C and that really saps the energy. After several hours there we headed West to the 'Red Rock Canyon'.
This was an another incredible geological feature of the area about 40 minutes out of town. I've included a photo that I hope the colours show up in. Very red sandstone rock formations that are wonderful to behold.
Headed back into town and stopped at the 'Stratosphere' Hotel on the way back. If you want crazy thrill seeker rides the top of the tower is the place to be. The tower is like the Auckland Skytower but might be a bit taller. However it has a lot more than a bungy decent on it. Right on top it has
several 'rides' that are actually handing over the side of the tower building. Crazy, crazy stuff that made us sick just watching. I'll try to get a photo added of them but I got two of the rides on my video camera so have a look when we get home.
After that the day petered out a bit as we headed 'home' went out for dinner, a little more wandering around and an early night ...... home by 11.30pm. We are starting to feel our age, I think!!!!!
Anyway that's us up to date. Rental car goes back at 9.30 in the morning and we leave LV for Washington DC at 1230 arriving there around 10pm after loosing (or is it gaining, I'm never sure) a few hours. Looking forward to catching up with Ted and Nicki Pearce who will be our 'hosts' for a few days there.
Thanks for the comments Deidre and Bobbi. Pity about the US dollar but ours are all locked in at the high rates when we put them on the card, a great system.
Bye from us.

Crikey...watch yourself..today its french toast, sausage and pokies tomorrow its full on Mcdonalds and blackjack!! Sounds like your having a good time anyway. Joy keep away from those retail outlets they are evil and the work of the devil. The casinos pale into the distance compared to the $$ you can destroy in Macys or the Levi shop. Sounds like the city that never sleeps has claimed a couple more victims for sleep deprivation. Enjoy..you only live once. Have a good one and keep safe.
