Halifax Waterfront
July 13, 2011
We have just had a gorgeous day on the Halifax waterfront enjoying the marine activity, museums, walking, rick shaw ride and seafood. What a beautiful waterfront! We started off exploring the Acadia, a hydro-graphic survey boat that worked along the east coast of Canada mapping the contours of the ocean floor. It was a working boat from the 1913 up to 1969. We also took the ferry across the harbor to Dartmouth and enjoyed our picnic lunch with fresh strawberries from a local market-very sweet! We then headed back to Halifax and toured the Maritime museum-lots of majestic model ocean liners and an exhibit on the Titanic-artifacts.... very interesting. Sarah really wanted to see Pier 21 Museum which focuses on the immigrants to Canada from the early 1900's and after the war. On our way we enjoyed a rick shaw ride with a very strong young man running us along the board walk-not too shabby! We ended our day in the Triangle Pub-an irish pub-the same as last night and enjoyed a drink, seafood, and salad. Another yummy meal. On our way back to our b&b we shopped for lunch items for tomorrow and wine for tonight

and tomorrow. Everything is close in Halifax. Somehow we got ourselves turned around and found we were directly in front of our b&b-nice!
For tomorrow we have decided to put our aeroplan points to use and have rented a car until Sunday as we continue to wait for the arrival of our car. We will drive to Peggy's Cove and then on to Lunnenburg where we have booked another b&b right in the middle of this little town-the town of The Bluenose, We expect we will have more areas to discover along the way as well as add some kayaking in.
