Barton's first SnowBarton's first SnowBarton's first Snow

Putting on a happy face to cover up his childlike fears of the strange white powder.....
After spending the night in the seedy "Desert Skies" motel in Gallup New Mexico, Barton, Roy, and myself drove through a near white into the town of Durango, Colorado. Three green chile burritoes and a fresh tank of gas got us to the Los Pinos Ranch in Bayfield, CO. About 27 beers, three fresh mountain trout, and a garden burger (for Barton of course) sent us to sleep well that night. There is little rest for the weary traveler. Early the next morning we drove up the San Jaun mountains and engaged a day of fresh powder at the Durango Mountain Ski Area, formerly known as Purgatory mountain. Me and Roy hit the mountain, while Barton, still trying to make sense of the snow and cold (both of which he was experiencing for the first time, sat at the ski lodge and drank. Another night of drinking at the ranch and some last minute trip preparation and we were off east on US 160 to Pagosa Springs, and then south on US 84 to Chama, and then Santa Fe. We had an interesting stop at Echo Ampitheatre on the way and Roz climbed to rather dangerous heights. Upon arrival in Santa

more snow than I have seen on the shores of the Los Pinos river EVER....
Fe we stopped into Alex and Becky's mountain shanty and the five of us went to Bobcat Bites to eat green chile cheeseburgers, what numerous food critics consider to be the best burger in America. Currently I'm a few beers deep. Tommorow we head to the El Paso area and spend the night. Early Sunday morning we will cross into Jaurez and head for Chihuhua Mexico and Copper Canyon....
