borders Going into this trip the one thing I was most concerned about what the days we had to cross borders. I had heard horror stories about spending six hours waiting for paperwork to clear. As it turns out it has taken less than 30 minutes to cross each border. It took as longer when we sold teh car obviously but I have already told that story. Remember to have the following at each border. Original title, registration, passport, birth certificate never hurts. Almost every border asks for copies of all these things. We stopped at kinkos in El Paso and made like 20 copies of each document. Very helpful... If the car title is not in your name you need some type of permission note from the title holder. Other than that its not so tough...
The tollroads are pricey in Mexico, specifcally around Mexico city, but the roads are great, huge four lane raods and you can fly. You still save money by not taking expensive busrides. If you can pick up fellow travellers on the way you can all split the toll and it wont be as bad... good luck
Sketchy!! But sounds like it worked in your favor! Hey! That's wild.
We're driving through C.A. but have gotten stranded in Texas waiting for our trucks title to catch up with us.
How were the border crossings?
Did you spend a lot of money on toll roads through Mexico?
Be safe.

hot dogs....polish i dont want to interrupt your trip or anything but ive got a story to tell you i think youd appreciate. had 3rd row behind home plate in tucson last week for a white sox v as game. whilst talking baseball, conrad said the white sox hadnt had a shortstop in 20 years. the kids in front of us said ozzie guillen was pretty good. conrad said, "yeah, but he swung at everything". they seemed to agree...reluctantly. after a couple frames of wondering coupled with the fact that ozzie kept coming over and talking spanish to them, we realized that we had just quasi put down these two kids father. we sat next oswaldo jr. and oney (and his stacked gf). incredible fun. and then jim thome dropped the hammer on the cubs the next day. kept yelling at fukodome to "go back to yugoslavia!!!!"
a reason to return While enjoying the tranquility of Mexico, consider what you are missing back in Los Angeles... I am pretty sure Greg Cousa is the new president of Sigma Nu. Tell the Mexicans democracy is a bitch.
awesome I just remembered to check up on how you were doing. I loved reading your blog, sounds awesome... especially the dead dog. So sketch!! keep having fun :)
"morale is high"- what is this? oregon trail? dont die from any snake bites. someone asked me when you were coming back, and i said all i know is that you'll be back by opening day.
Sounds fun Glad to hear you are well Sam. I have been down to Maztlan a few times myself, and it was quite fun, especially because I was in highschool and able to go out to the bars. Enjoy the coast, and the great seafood. watch out for quemadures(jelly fish) in the ocean there. Tell me if you go to the wierd castle night club, if you see it you'll know what I mean. Keep your wallet in your front pocket.
yeeeeaaahhh wasn't sure if you would make it..like another Alaska trip. but lookin good. ill just live vicariously for now. peace
ps thanks for those discs...good shit man
For as long as I can remember my heart has stirred for some kind of raw feeling of motion. Never is this satisfied more than when I am winging my way down God's great highways at 70 plus MPH. I have crisscrossed our continent as many as twelve times. Some of them out of necessity, some for adventure, and some for redemption. Next week I set out toward the Alaskan Highway. Do not read my blog in search of cultural revelations or personal awakening. Read it as an adventure story, a pure simply wild boy adventure story, as that is what life ought to be until that final day when we run out of... full info
