Wednesday the weather didn't cooperate with us. It looked a lot like rain so we decided on a trip to Cripple Creek, a town loaded with Casino's up in the mountains about 40 miles from camp. It was a fun little trip not yielding us any winnings. we lost our _ _ _ at the Brass Ass Casino. Kathy gets to see wildlife here. There was a pack of 4 wild Donkeys that she tried to coax to the truck. They were not having any part of that without food for them to eat, but it was fun watching her try. We again had a taste for pizza so we stopped in Lake George at this small Italian Café. After this pizza we will not have a taste for that for some time. Thursday we slept in and decided on bicycle riding near and around camp. We took a dirt road up to a small village called Tiara where we found 10-15 log homes and a few A Frame houses and a couple dogs. Kathy just don't enjoy the dogs anymore after being bit in the rear end back home. We got back home and enjoying the late afternoon wind when a
storm popped up yielding us a nice hail shower. The weather at 11 Mile Campground has extreme changes. You can be wearing shorts one minute, sweatshirts the next minute, raincoats, back to shorts in no time at all. The wind is always 10-15 miles an hour and sometimes worse. The awnings stay rolled up until evening when you don't really need them. The temps during the day are 80-90 degrees, air conditioners running solid, then nighttime comes with temps in the low 50's. We really like it here though, it is awesome the times we are having are memorable and the views are just incredible. Friday we planned a hike through the foothills of the mountains. The path had warnings in the beginning about Bears and Lions so we packed a small Knife and off we went. It was a wonderful hike, not as challenging as the Smokey Mountains but a 5 mile walk through the foothills was uneventful and gorgeous. Later it was so nice we took another walk and enjoyed the late night dinner and fire. At least the wind dies in the evenings for the wonderful fires and relaxation. Saturday morning we get up, pack up and
A pit stop on the way home!
You have to like country music here! head back to Fountain just south of the Colorado Springs. Today is Kathy's Birthday, sucks for her traveling but I will make up for it later by surprising her to the Famous Steakhouse Of Colorado Springs. I also ordered her flowers delivered to the restaurant and invited Jason and the family to join us. It was a awesome time, it was a surprise for her, they had a cake and the piano player sang happy birthday. The food was incredible from the oysters to the steaks and sides. We had Austin and Tealyn with at a steakhouse, not really the kids speed so the cook made them homemade chicken tenders and fries, man did they enjoy that. The kids even tried oysters, anchovies and shrimp cocktail. Kathy enjoyed the night and had a great time.
