Last night, we went for a drive down San Fernando Ave towards Burbank and wouldnt you know it, we came across a movie shoot at around 9:30pm. It was a diner scene at a diner named "Cadillac Jacks" and they had some 1960's cadillac's outside and a whole bunch of lighting and actors/extra's. Andrew talked to the cop providing traffic control on San Fernando and he said the shoot was for a movie titled "Spring Break'83" - a title that has "straight to DVD" written all over it. It was interesting to see how much effort and number of people required to shoot probably 2-3 minutes of film.
Today we spent the day at Santa Barbara, a great little sleepy town up the coast. We had a great time walking on the pier (including lunch) and amongst the fantastic adobe architecture along the main street. Highlights were the Courthouse and Mission (circa 1790's). This area was under the control of Spain/Mexico until 1848 so there is lots of adobe (both original and new) buildings. We had an amazing drive back on the 101 stopping to watch the sunset. There was 5 lanes of traffic in each direction all travelling at 120-130km/h

A bite of lunch on the Santa Barbara Pier was scrumptious
for around an hour - it felt like being on a boat floating down a raging river.

2nd April 2009

Hi Tish and Andrew, I thought that you were going straight to Auckland when you left Vancouver, but another check on your itinerary showed me that you are there until Friday. Your photos look great and you seem to be packing a lot into your days, I couldn't beleive the size of these strawberries! Well you know what they say - everything is bigger in America. I'm glad that the weather is warmer for you too, it has been in the 30s here for the past two days and feels like in the 40s, but it is supposed to cool down tonight and be in the low 20s all for the rest of the week. Everything at home is fine and the cats are happy although Jemma is still vomiting, she must have vomited outside last week as there was nothing in the house. Enjoy your last couple of days in LA and a safe trip back to Auckland. Love, Mum. xxxx
