We didn't see any ladies in short skirts on skates taking orders but we sure could picture them

They even had strudy mesh fencing to try and hold the cliff rocks back. Boulders balanced precariously

Chief Yellowhorse Trading Post. Originally Atkinson Trading Post (1942) in Box Canyon. Half in New Mexico, half in Arizona with yellow line inside showing state line. Signs used to read "We no scalpum pale face, we scalpum wallet"

Fake fort immediately outside of Chief Yellowhorse's Trading Post. The Big Carnival, Kirk Douglas 1951, was filmed here. Chief Juan Yellowstone passed in 1999.

Little Post Office Sanctuary. We were so amused by this little sanctuary in the middle of nowhere

1931-65 US 66 used to be paved but has returned to dirt/gravel rough road. It was so washboard bad, some Indians stopped to see if we were lost.
