Neeko and Mike Take it from me: If you want to avoid studying for big tests (ex. CPA exam), then go on a month-long vacation to somewhere awesome right before you "sit" (and get your ass kicked) for the test. For all those that are scoring at home, I'm getting back to St. Louis on July 1 and I take Audit on the 3rd of July. That effectively gives me 24 hours of non-sleeping time, drug induced, studying time. If I pass, they'll write about me in the Bible. Anyway...here are a few more of my self-handicapping experiences that i've done since Saturday.
Saturday Morning -
The SUN! is shining in the window. Shoot, and today was going to be my "buckle down and study day." Welp, whatever. Instead, Mike, Neeko and I get in the car and head towards the mountains. This takes about 45 mins to get to the first worthy "hike" that a 3 year old can do. We exit the highway and follow the horribly unhelpful signage towards "twin falls trailhead." (as I am writing this, I'm watching sea planes take off and land from one of the lakes in the Seattle area (Lake Union))
Snow?
this place didn't get the memo that it was June 14. Our trailhead was around here somewhere. that in there. At any rate, the car ride into this park was awesome. There doesn't seem to be anyone else around and there are 4 foot snow embankments on either side of the car. Yeah, there was snow on the ground on June 14th and we were not at the top of the mountain or anything. Anyway, we have the windows rolled down and the smell of nature and pine trees was enough to count it as a good day and good decision to make the drive. But, eventually we came to a busy intersection and a ranger hut. The ranger gave us directions to a different hike because the reason we couldn't find the trailhead for the original hike was because the trailhead and the trail was covered in snow. We went back to the trailhead anyway to take another look and sure enough, there was too much snow since we didnt really plan/wear clothes that were suited for that hike. We eventualy found a snow-free hike a few miles away from where we were. All in all, great first half of the day.
Saturday afternoon - I was going to study but instead I took a
Our trail
Found the trail but forgot our snow boots. Apx. 8 inches of sloppy snow wouldn't have been a fun 2 mile hike with a 3 year old nap and then planned my evening.
Saturday night - Went to Bellevue (basically Seattle) to catch up with friends Matt, Sara and Coutney. Bellevue is basically a almost too perfect little town with nice apartments and neat highrises and swanky bowling alleys. Check out the pictures. We never actually got a lane at the bowling alley/lounge. I think we got tired of playing pool at the rate of $15/hr while we waited for our chance to sit on sassy leather couches and pay out the ass for a game of bowling. Sorry, it might sound like I'm complaining but we actually had a great time - I just dont have the coin to be rolling with the crowd that was dropping $10/game and $5 shoe rentals and who knows how much per beer. I'm spoiled by midwestern bowling prices where you splurge on making $10 personalized purple bowling shirts that say like "lazer" on the back of them because you know you'll only be spending a buck or two per game. Oh! I saw the tallest man that I've ever seen at the bowling alley so that was a treat. i didn't get a picture because i thought the

me and some creek people/girls that were getting pictures with him just because he was a giant. It was a bit awkward for him I think. no se. After leaving there we went to Matt & Sara's Ikea furnished apartment. again, check out the pictures. The place they are renting is about a block or two away from their work and the places that we hung out all evening so they won't have to go far to do anything they want. A Safeway grocery store will be opening next week on the first floor of their apartment.
Sunday - I actually did some studying! I also rented movies, drove around aimlessly. Bought $5/gal gas to just see how it burns and found out that the covers of Becker books (study material) are no match for gasoline.
Monday - Today - Neeko and I finally played Johnny Tourist and went to the top of the Space Needle. Neeko liked the idea of going up it but once we got to the top, his 3-year old ADD kicked in and had no desire to be up there any longer. So, while I was trying to snap a few pictures of the breathtaking views/enjoy the
Hiking Lesson
Lesson #1: Instill the fear of whitewater into a kid so they won't be tempted to jump in and they don't walk too close to it. weather, Neeko was whining and making a little scene.
Sidenote: Lori just called me while I was writing this and her stories of her first day of work just about made me cry. I would have been crying but I think the fear of my first day of work set in and I was essentially paralyzed.
