Tuesday night: Tuesday night I went to the Seattle Mariners vs. Florida Marlins baseball game. I spent most of the game trying to defend baseball’s integrity while teaching the rules and many caveats of baseball to Pablo and Jeremy - both of whom are from France. I’m pretty sure that they think baseball is a boring/lame game but at least they got to see a relatively active game from good seats (19 rows behind the Mariners dugout). It was pretty populated near us but as you can tell from the pictures there weren’t that many people there. It was a weeknight and apparently Mariners suck. Check out this awesome commercial that Mike sent me that pretty much sums up my experience in Seattle. http://www.boardsmag.com/screeningroom/commercials/3261/ Wednesday morning was gloomy out so I figured it would be a ... read more

Take it from me: If you want to avoid studying for big tests (ex. CPA exam), then go on a month-long vacation to somewhere awesome right before you "sit" (and get your ass kicked) for the test. For all those that are scoring at home, I'm getting back to St. Louis on July 1 and I take Audit on the 3rd of July. That effectively gives me 24 hours of non-sleeping time, drug induced, studying time. If I pass, they'll write about me in the Bible. Anyway...here are a few more of my self-handicapping experiences that i've done since Saturday. Saturday Morning - The SUN! is shining in the window. Shoot, and today was going to be my "buckle down and study day." Welp, whatever. Instead, Mike, Neeko and I get in the car and head ... read more

What do you get when you mix a French kid, nba basketball, a English/French dictionary, a bar full of people who care about nba basketball, beer, and America in general? Two words: huh. larious. So you can imagine how that went - oh if you didn’t pick it up already, I watched game 3 of the NBA finals with Jeremy, my French friend, at a sports bar in Seattle. After that, we met up with Cejana (lives in boston but grew up in/lived in Brazil until she was 19) and Sarah (Seattelite). We went to a microbrewery but we were too far away from the free burlesque show so we didn’t go to the show. Maybe next Tuesday. After drinks there/after the bartender kicked us out as they were closing the place, we went to Sarah’s ... read more

Subject was taken from Louden Wainwright's song "Last Man on Earth" (Aaron first introduced me to this song, and it's a good one so check it out maybe?) Anyway...Saturday...Couchsurfing Event - Nature hike in Discovery Park during low tide. kinda neat. check out the pictures I met some really cool people today. Sorry guys, Allen was a no show. He had to work (remember DD 4th edition came out this weekend) so he couldn't get off. There was a large turnout for this event. You'll see most of the people in the photos (atleast one photo has most of the people). So, I mainly stuck around 3 other people, Alejandro from Austin Texas, Anna from Paris, and Jeremy from Lyon. Those were probably my favorite people/the people I spent the most time with. Alejandro has been ... read more

Friday 6:22am - *Correction - the quote in the subject heading was from our dear friend Libby. I'm sitting at a coffee shop, VOXX Coffee, trying to study but obviously can't because I don't know how to study. Not helping is the one other guy in there (old fat dude) clipping his finger nails and then brushing them off to the floor...really? ok fine. whatever. the show must go on... I strategically sit between the place people place orders and the main sitting area so that I can listen to as many conversations as possible. The only notable thing today that I heard was a quote that the barista asked Lucy (regular row team member): "Would you like me to heat your quiche." - that sounded funny to me at the time/still does. They don't even ... read more

So, tonight was fun. The first CS event that I went to since I've been here. I showed up at this Aussie/Kiwi bar and the Stanley Cup game was on so I watched that awkwardly at the bar, drinking by myself and talking to older men who were reading playboy...yep, they were reading playboy. The stack of playBOYS were right next to where I sat down and that stack was frequented way too often by bar veterans. Anyway, i kept my eyes on the hockey game because chicks are for fags. totally a joke (i dont know what i'm allowed or not allowed to say on this blog site. So i might have gotten kicked off right now. Don't report me basically.) ANYWAY! as we all know the game ended sweetly and the Red Wings won ... read more

Warning: Reading this probably won't be fun. That being said, enjoy. (also, my blog is "public" so if you're reading this and you don't know me, then it's probably even less funny and not worth your time.) I wrote a little every day that I've been here and I'm just now posting it so some of you that actually are checking this probably have already heard the stories. June 1: When I got off the plane at SEA-TAC, I figured that I'd need beer, brains, and a little luck to get me to my brother's house. And I was right, I arrived alive via help from my first three friends in Seattle who just happen to be an alcoholic, an atmospheric scientist, and a bingo-aholic. For dinner we had a korean dinner complete with sesame leave ... read more
