Zion National Park
Breathtaking view from the top of 'Angel's Landing' in Zion National Park We woke up and packed everything back into the trailer and anything else into the van. But even though we had a massive cleanout in the last few days there was still stuff all over the place. We did one last sweep of the bunk house to make sure we weren’t forgetting anything then hit the road. It was only a very short drive today, we were going to Zion National Park which was another place none of us had ever heard of. We arrived at the campsite around lunchtime and put up our tents around the campfire. As soon as they were up we walked down to the Zion National Park Visitor’s Centre to have a browse through the gift shop. We needed to catch a shuttle bus to get to the trailhead so we all jumped aboard and took the bus to the beginning of the ‘Angel’s Landing’ hike.
I’m usually at the front of the group powering on forward to do the hike quickly but today I was going to stay back and take my time up. I started the hike with Marcia, Sara, Lucy and Hannah but soon enough Hannah and I went forward and left
the others behind us. Eventually Lucy caught up with us and walked with us until it was time for the difficult section. The next climb involved holding onto chains which were bolted into the rock, at some points there was a 1500m drop either side of us. Hannah and I slowly climbed our way to the top being as careful as we could, it seemed to go on forever. We passed the rest of our group coming back down and they told us it wasn’t much further to the top. We finally made it and were reward with some of the most spectacular view of the tour so far. We were looking down a massive valley with cliffs either side of us and small dirt roads and rivers running down the centre of the valley, it was breathtaking.
We were up there for a while taking in the amazing view and catching our breath for the tough climb up. We decided to head back and we took our time descending the mountain and eventually at the beginning of the trailhead we bumped into Jon who was waiting for us. Everyone else had gone back to the campsite to prepare

Hiking and climbing our way up the canyon dinner, we finally joined them after a tiring, but amazing 7 mile hike. We sat around the campfire eating another awesome dinner of pork and mash. Afterwards Hannah and I went down to reception to get a hot chocolate and met some of the other group in the lobby and chatted with them for a while. We eventually headed back to our tents, but Amy had somehow spilt pickle juice in Hannah’s tent so Hannah joined Dave and I for the night.
