Today we headed out to the Golden Spike National Park where the west and east railroads met. Then we took a gravel road for 15 miles (much to Rodney's chagrin) to see the Spiral Jetty. Its one of the few works of art visible from space. After walking a long time out the wrong jetty into the Great Salt Lake we finally found the right one and it was very impressive. This took a lot longer than I had expected but not Rodney. He knew it was going to be a while driving down a gravel road. We finally got on a real road and headed to Craters of the Moon. Its a large lava bed with lots of unusual formations and even some caves you can literally crawl into and out of. We went in the only one that didn't require a flashlight and felt a since of accomplishment after getting out. They said Indians used the caves for shelter and water but I can't imagine anyone getting comfortable in top of lava. This was a late day arriving into Boise around 10:0 after traveling almost 500 miles.
